EVA - the greatest series

Post by cheeseninja2002 » Sun Jul 02, 2006 11:33 am

Is it just me or do people who say evangelion is the greatest series ever don't really watch anime? I've cum (hehe cum) across about 5 or 6 ppl like this and after showing them Rah Xephon, Last Exile and Excel Saga have changed their minds and gone into a spiral of doubt and depression.

whats your opinion? did u find it that good?

I've seen I have Excel Saga on DVD and have seen Rah Xephon. I still think Evangelion is better. Hell, Rah Xephon was a total rip off of Evangelion! :P (not saying it was bad, though) However, I'm sure there's an anime out there better than EVA.

I love NGE, but I thought Wolf's Rain was better. I even found Trigun better than NGE. I just use NGE a lot more because I have the anime on DVD (though I'm steadily gaining an anime collection).

Asking if EVA is the best anime ever is like asking which painting is the best ever. Each of us has our own tastes in art and anime. Some people who have seen a lot of anime still think EVA is the best, others don't. Many who have seen Eva and RahXephon hate RahXephon, others love it. I think both are great anime and RahXephon is not a ripoff of Eva. That's my opinion, whatever yours is, is fine by me. I really enjoy to many anime to call one the "greatest" over the others.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

thank god, I feel the same in saying that there is no real best series ever because there are just too many styles and genres and what not, I am personally bias towards comedies cause thats just me...like school rumble, Excel, Azu Manga Diao, Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi. But can still see and enjoy other animations from other genres like FMA (gods gift to anime lover who dont read the manga...so ive heard), Texhnolyze (so good... it has a talking chair), Eva(though personaly not a fav), Cowboy bebop (must i say anymore...cowboybebop), Last Exile and who could forget BERSERK( It sounds almost as cool as the series itself, BERSERK).

I'd have to say there are four that are tied for me as "Best":

Gankutsuou: Le Comte du Monte Cristo (Visual Orgasm)
Robotech: The Macross Saga (Perfect Story)
Fullmetal Alchemist (Perfect Greek Tragedy, Amazing Animation)
Cowboy Bebop (Perfect Shakesperian Tragedy, Beautiful Animation, Ultimate Coolness Factor)

If Bones (Eureka 7, Wolf's Rain, FMA) ever redid Eva, especially following the comic as a guide, then yes, hands-down, Eva would be to anime what the Godfather is to film.
