Where did my videos go?

Post by Yogurtron » Fri Jul 21, 2006 1:23 pm

I know there has been some work done on the catalog.... but one of my videos, "Invader Zim - Scum of the Earth" is gone. Now, I would understand that if I put it on the donut, it isn't anime, and therefore should not be on the main server...
However it was just in the catalog, and as of the rules a couple years ago... which is still a few years after it was posted, we were allowed to have non-animes listed in the catalog.
The other part that annoys me... I wouldn't be annoyed if Zim was removed from the catalog, and thus all Zim videos were removed... but its not, I can still find plenty of Zim videos listed on the org...

So the question is, why is MINE competely gone from my profile and the catalog itself?

PS. I normally wouldn't make such a deal about it, but aparantly, the internet likes the vid a lot. http://www.youtube.com/results?search=z ... rch=Search all of those except for the DBZ one are mine, none of which I actually uploaded... so yeah, it apparantly has a fan base, and I'd kind of still want it listed in the catalog.... or at the very least know WHY it was deleted.

Honestly, whether or not other people like the video has no bearing on anything. It was deleted because of the automatic search and destroy system.

Kal,

I'm curious, can you explain how that system works and what triggered it in this specific case?

This is purely for my own tirst for knowledge that I ask.

It's still on the list so it can be catogorized as "non-anime." If you find videos that are a majority Zim or any other non-anime footage, please drop the links in the mod box so they can be deleted as well.

I can't be bothered to check the source code at the moment, but my understanding is that it checks for video entries that are purely non-anime and deletes those.

But that's the thing, it takes effort to program a search and destroy that goes out to get specific cases, if it just was, if it is non-anime, destroy, then ALL Zim videos should be gone.

The rules must have changed because I could SWEAR it said that non-anime videos were allowed on the catalog but NOT the donut, which I followed. I thought that was the whole point of a non-anime tag on a series.

But yeah, so why was one video specifically targetted, as opposed to one scan that sees all invader zim videos, anddeletes them? or just deletes zim from the listing, and any vids that appear to have no series (since zim was the only one) would then be deleted?

P.S. The "There are fans to it" was jsut saying why I went here to complain, if it wasn't for that... I might still be here, but more just for curiosity's sake.

There are only 4 "Invader Zim" amvs listed on the site. They were all entered in 2006. They probably got listed *after* the search and destroy program was run to clean out the non-anime entries. The next time they run that program, those 4 amv descriptions should get deleted.

All the other entries with Invader Zim claim to use the non-anime combined with anime sources. They're safe unless you download them and find that they're less than half anime. If you find some like this, report them and they'll be deleted.

As for the rules about listing non-anime-only vids in the org catelogue - the vcas have been leading to the deletion of those videos since the 2004 contest. We aren't even supposed to advertise non-anime videos in the amv announcement forum.

.
.

Should we drop links to non-anime listings in the mod's box? Vid descriptions that have no links on them but list only a non-anime source? Or only if they cheat and find a way to put those non-anime vids on local?

I'd say since the S&D makes no distinction, you neededn't confirm them either.
