Out of the anime loop
I haven’t really watched any new anime for about 6 months. I just started watching bleach. Can anyone recommend any good series lately. It doesn't matter what my personal taste is whatever you think is good. I would apperiate it just looking throught all the series at animeondvd.com and trying to weed out the new and good ones is a daunting task.

I basically popped my head in here cuz I am pretty much in the same boat. But I can share a few recent animes with you that I liked
first of all and most recently I watched and liked Nana
I must warn you though, It's a rather girly series, discussing alot about 'loves' and 'feelings'. But it translates itself so well, that even I, a macho macho man, can appreciate this series. If your like me, you may not like it till episode 5 though... and it's not finished yet, about 30 episodes have been subbed so far, out of 50 or so.
secondly (and these are all from roughly 4 months + ago...) I suggest Chikyu ga Ugoita Hi
A very touching story in the vein of Grave of the Fireflys (a true to life tale like that). Somewhat rare, but you'd be lucky if you got it ;p.
Lastly I enjoyed Karin
This is a romantic comedy, not the lumbering dramas that I linked to beforehand lol
The last two may just be 2005 animes, but I felt I had to share them, as you may have missed them. These are all available on fansubs, btw, not R1 DVDs.

If you like Voices, try "The Place Promised in our Early Days" by the same people. Another different story, try "A Tree of Palme" sort of based on Pinnochio, i'ts a well done anime.
Whisper of the Heart is another good story.

Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?
