I'd like to make an effect like this on Premiere 6.5: superimpose a clip on another, making the background of it invisible, for the character to appear in front of the other clip (on another background). Just like this:

Could you help me?

This is a process called rotoscoping (or masking). It basically involves taking the frame (or series of frames) you want to mask into Photoshop, then either using the pen tool, eraser, or any number of other methods, you essentially put that character into its own layer. You bring the Photoshop file into Premiere, select the layer with the character on it, and work with it from there.

Find the first frame you want to work on and export it as an image file (preferably lossless, like .BMP or .TIF) from Premiere 6.5. Photoshop should then be able to open it with no problem. Repeat for each frame.
Alternatively, VirtualDubMod lets you copy a frame to the clipboard, from whence you can paste it into Photoshop directly.
