converting video help.. aspect/ratio.

Post by Wished » Thu May 03, 2007 9:05 pm

I use a great converter to convert vids and I usually leave the aspect & ratio as no change, for it usually isnt that big.
but the ones I have are huge -- 1024x576 -- and I don't know how to find the ratio or aspect. =\ I wanted to make it smaller so that it isnt huuuge after conversion. ^^;; But also, will changing the aspect/ratio deform the video and make it look squished or too pulled?

First, it is one thing. Aspect Ratio.

Second, 1024x576 is a 16:9 DAR so you should be able to resize to a smaller 16:9 and not have that squished. I believe this is PAL footage. Unfortunately, i only know NTSC. But if you resize proportionally, you'll have no problem.

Yepp, it's 16:9 PAL with square pixels. You can resize it to any other 16:9 format, take only care that length and height are multiples of 16. For example 768x432 would be a good choice.
