Noobie in Need of Help: Sony Vegas 7

Hi. I downloaded the Trial and have been using it for some time and gotten pretty good, although now I have a problem. Whenever I try to use an effect such as Flicker, or Cookie Clutter, or even Grey Scale, it only works on the right half of the screen!

And Also, I'm still sorta new and now whenever I try to use an effect like cookie clutter, my video preview disapears, making it really hard to perfect the effect.
The video preview only shows when there are no effects being adjusted or edited, only when I'm viewing the video.
How do I get it back?!

well the rate of responses depends really on who is on and who is bored (like me) i wouldn't worry about it, its a common question though...

By the way, I'm trying to use a cookie clutter but I can't do it without my preview of the video to see what I'm doing, how do I get the video preview to play the same time I'm adjusting the cookie clutter..?

uhhh? are you trying to move it? or change the size?

I usually marker out the keyframes on the main timeline for how i want the cookie cutter and then set the keyframes on the markers on the event effects timeline

that probably makes no sense

to make the markers use the "M" key

and the space bar will make it play... I also tend to loop my playback with a loop region O.o

umm i dont quite think you understand what I'm saying , or maybe I'm not getting what you are but here:

^^ see how there is not a preview of the video while using effects? without it I can't see what Im doing..

it looks like you somehow screwed up the default layout O.o

this is how it looks for me...

perhaps restoring your defaults is in order?
