How do I convert to MP4 after I complete my AMV?

How do I convert to MP4 after I complete my AMV?

I'm sorta noobish when it comes to converting to proper mp4. Do I convert to mp4 after VirtualDubMod, or before? Also, do I need a certain codec? If I do, can someone provide a link? Thanks for all the help guys. Hope to hear from someone.
