RMVB files
Real Media files suck. =_=
Is there any way to convert these bad boys into an editable format? I need a converter, but all of them charge money...so yeah. Any suggestions? What did you guys do to deal with this?
All the clips I need are always in this format, which is terrible.

Install Real Alternative and install AviSynth. Import the files in to VirtualDub as "DirectShow Source" is what he means.
Alternatively, if you have a few spare bucks, you can try WinAvi to convert after installing Real Alternative, there's a trial for the program too, though it leaves a watermark.
