CCCP / Codecs and Playback quality

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:03 am

Guys, with the CCCP installed I thought playback would have been granted, but a lot of AMVs (or other video files) too often look blocky, like in the worst VLC playlist. I tried to install Xvid and DivX but of course nothing changed. Is there any way to help the Computer to play cleaner videos?

I'm not sure blockyness is a symptom of your codecs - are you sure the video quality is better than what you're seeing? Post a screenshot of something we'd recognize if you can.

would also help to know what codec the videos are encoded in and also which videos you are trying to watch.

I'll try to post some screens but players usually don't allow them. :?
About the videos I'm trying to watch, I'm sure it's not their fault, I saw those blocks (They're like "Memory Blocks" if you get what I mean. When the clip changes, some blocks of the previous one remain above the video distorting it) even if perfectly encoded videos. (That on other comps works flawlessly)

Do you know the theory behind codec key- and bframes ? They´re the reason why codecs compress that good.
They take a frame and only save the changes of the frame for some amount of time.

What you have here is a keyframe problem I guess that may be the fault of CCCP. So when your scene changes than another keyframe "should" come along.

I´m no expert at this so please forgive me when I said something wrong .-.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:
