Has the org changed you?

Post by EvaFan » Sat Dec 20, 2008 6:27 pm

The topic title pretty much is the question but I guess I could go more into it.

Do you think the org changes people? How? Why?

I gotta say I've seen a few good people who started out really nice before they made a decent amv and got noticed causing an ego boost, of course this works vice-versa. That changed their personality so to speak on the org for the worst. I'm not giving any names but its definitely happening. I remember reading a post a long time ago about something Kevin Caldwell said along these lines.

So has the org changed you? Do you think your a better person or worse person cause of it? It's not like you got anything to lose by being honest.

Doesn't have to be major changes, even small ones. If you visit the org frequently every day, it must have an effect on you in some way.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Nice question. It has changed me. I turned into an asshole . Many turn into "assholes" to look big and impress people. What I mean by that is that they won't stop and take the time to help somebody thats way worse than them and say things on people's videos that are far from constructive, more like bashing. These are the people I hesitate to talk to. I wont mention names. I try to stop but there's something keeping me back. I mostly say "Epic Fail" on bad/retarted stuff, but now it's not really worth it nor is it nice. I'm more articulate. hehe mostly to impress but whatever. Though now it's not to impress, it's just the way I talk. Anyways, it helped me get better editing-wise. I learned multiple stuff from the guides and people's postings.
So yeah it bettered and worsened me in someway :?

Really nice topic

I've met some of the greatest people in the world through the .org.

The rest is much less important.

I have to say yes. While I don't know if I can say it's directly *changed* me, but because of this site I have met so many wonderful people and made some great friends that it's definitely improved my life.

Sure. I think I got slightly in touch with the ego-boost (hey I´m just honest...). It wasn´t that strong, but sometimes noticeable. So far I think I calmed down a long time ago. In the end the org teaches me a lot of psycological things (groups, running gags, trolls, egos, communities...), editing, dealing with critic and differen opinions, how to be more objective on some things and how to improve in general.

Seeing people who apprecite your stuff you editing and the things you do and say (giving opinions and helping other people) is a great thing. I don´t want to miss that.
You can find me on YT under "Bauzi514". Subscribe to never miss my AMV releases. :amv:

Hrm...it hasn't changed me, perhaps because I don't give it enough importance to change me. Does the .ORG have the potential to highlight certain aspects of my personality...yes...but change them? No. I'm quite pleased with the fact that I generally do things right now the exact same way I was doing them years ago. If something is different, it's because the .ORG has changed, not me, which has a lot to do with the many people here, of course.

Now if the question had been "Have AMVs changed you?" THEN I'd have a different answer.

I prefer to think of it as the org is to blame for everything.

AMV's are part of the org :P . I'm not talking about just the forums. I'm talking about the org as a whole.
