any help would be great,
i can take one still image at a time
but need to know how to convert the whole clip into still images at once
im using sony vegas and virtual dub

Use Virtual Dub and select "Save image sequence..."

Just make sure that when you do so, that VirtualDub is set to Full Processing Mode and that no compression codecs are selected. If they are, it'll screw up the export because it's really saving bitmaps compressed with whatever it was that was selected (or in a different colorspace than RGB, if you're actually using one of the more recent versions of VDub that support saving in uncompressed YUV formats natively), and since there's very little if anything that can handle bitmaps like that, you'd be SOL.
