AMV Filenames
Question, do you keep the original filename of an AMV you download or do you change it, and if so what is the format of your filenames? Including how you use ( ) - _ etc. Like Editor_Title-Anime_Music.

Re: AMV Filenames
I always change it so it has the creator in [] at the beginnig
like
[hasteroth]
unless it already has that then I just leave it.
I never change anything else, if there are _ or - I just leave them.

Re: AMV Filenames
I use Anime - Video Title - Editor.ext. A video with two or more sources I just call "Various" to keep it simple. I also keep a spreadsheet of those, along with more information, like song title, song artist, etc., so I can find a video by just about any factor (and can easily make a "Karaoke Book" for playback at a con or other event where people can make requests).
Until I enter something on the spreadsheet, it sits in a "to catalog" folder with the original filename. Then I rename the file, put the info into the sheet, and move the file to the appropriate folder (AMV, MEP, MAD, etc.).
I know my method is kind of overkill, but it's quick to search and doesn't take a big amount of time if I get to things quickly (the VCAs can make a big backlog, though ).

Re: AMV Filenames
I've tagged a bunch of them with some form of EDITOR - TITLE.ext. Should really get around to doing that to the vast majority of my collection given how often I host events where i have to pull up vids on the fly.

Re: AMV Filenames
I only change it if someone names it stupid like "finished.mpg" or "done2.mpg".
