The waifu/husbando trend is the silliest trend in weeaboo/otaku culture today.
Many people think that being the world's biggest KOR fan automatically means that Madoka is my waifu. This is false, since Madoka without Kyosuke is incomplete. If you flip through my favorite series, you will generally find that I prefer romantic comedies, or anime with romantic subplots, and this further means that there is a couple I support, therefore it is generally not possible for me to be interested in a character on her separate merits. In recent memory, perhaps the only character that comes close is Sakamoto Yasuko of Aoi Hana, but if I told you why, I would spoil the series. Yasuko is on the left, Fumi on the right:
