"At the end of the day yesterday, I received a legitimate and confirmed 'cease and desist' request from a major record label concerning AMVs on this web site. It basically said that the copyright holders of a group of musical artists would like the Org to stop distributing videos using their music. After speaking today with the attorney representing the group, we were able to come to the agreement that the links to the videos using their music should be removed from the site and then all would be good.
What this means is that local downloads and links to videos by this group of artists are now no longer available. The artists are: Evenescence, Creed, and Seether. Any video containing any song by these artists are automatically blocked and can no longer be linked from or downloaded from this site. These videos now have the message 'Links for this video are no longer available.' "

I think this is the turning point the AMV fandom has been dreading for years. The crackdown. I don't think it requires much comment beyond saying "capitalism sucks." Personally, I've never even heard of Creed or Seether, and the only use I have for Evanescence is to have sex with Amy Lee, which I doubt will happen any time soon. I hope that the principle that new powers of production can render obsolete old relations of production will work in our long-term favour, but even then I suppose there will be a struggle. On a more humourous note, a guy called didrox said that "thankfully all that happened was 3 bands instead of a anime or worse 300 bands...but luckly we still have linkin park and dbz ." Oh Happy Day! In other news, Demonseal is still down, and now the Heavens are down as well. If you go to the Heavens, you'll get this message:

To all trustworthy members of the Heavens...
We have recently come under attack by a group of people that seek to bring down the place we hold dear.
As we speak the new data administrator (namely, me) and Rei_zero are currently repairing the site after the damage that has been caused by this rogue group.
I hope we can return to the Heavens we once knew shortly.

I PM'ed Zero on this site asking for more information. Man, this fucking sucks. What a shit-rain it's been in recent days. If you want to feel better, I recommend that you download Moonlight Soldier's latest video, which is a Sailor Moon video and is pretty damn good. Sailor Moon/Tuxedo Mask romance videos have just about been done to death, but this one is well wrought and is therefore worth a look at it even if you're not a hardcore Moonie.
And hopefully I'll have done reviews of that video and several other which need to be opinionated.
Oh yeah, check out my thread on AnimeAudioVideos. Maybe one day I'll make one.

Fuck, why wasn't I told about this?

We don't need everyone and their mom to post a picture of batman, derailing a thread even further and making it even more pointless, completely destroying any chance for that thread to be redeemed with possibly useful discussion that could come out of it. If you think a thread should be locked, just post in the mod box instead."
So now Batman is passé. :( Well, I don't recall ever having posted any Batman pictures in an obviously off-topic thread, I've only "invoked" the dude. Crap. Calling on Batman was just fun. Just plain immature fun. Especially the complete mystification on the part of the n00b:
=========================
Noob: Hey hello everyone I'm sorta new here and i want 2 aks you all a questoin abot wether you guys think Alucard from Hellisng can kick Narouto's ass?
Org regular 1: BATMAN.
Noob: Hmm what do you mean, Batman??
Org regular 2: *picture of Batman* I call upon the Bat signal!!
Noob: [at this point in real life an expression of utter perplexity has manifested itself on the noob's face] Ummm, this is not about Batman it's about wether Narouto can defeat Alucard in pichted combat. Personaly i think Alucard could probably win, unless Narouto uses the right jutsu
azulmagia: [quote="Org regular 1"]BATMAN.[/quote] Crap, you beat me to it.
Org regular 3: *another picture of Batman gets posted* Lock this god damn thread.
Noob: [still looking extremely mystified in RL] Why has evryone turned on me? What did i do wrong!? :( :( :(
Org regular 4: [Quotes extract from Pointless Threads sticky]
[At this point a thread appears in the drop box, entitled "Batman!" containing a link to the thread and noting that it's a pointless thread.]
Noob: [quotes Org regular 4] Ummmmm this thread is not pointless. Wether Narouto can kick Alucard's ass is concidered a very vexing question in my high school.* Because Narouto is a ninja and Alucard is a vampire. BATMAN ISNT EVEN A FUCKING ANIME YOU RETARD!!!!
Org regular 1: [quotes above post made by Noob] "Batman" is sort of a code used here to indicate when a thread has become lock-bait. A mod will soon descend on this thread to lock it.
Noob: [a look of sheer horror is on the guy's face in RL, makes a last-ditch effort to save his thread] Does anyone want to comment on who would win in such a fight?
Org regular 1: Batman always wins.
[at this point the Mod posts in this final post: "THREAD LOCKED FOR TOTAL POINTLESSNESS." And the thread gets locked. The creator of this thread then goes a little ballistic, yells at his little brother, etc. He then starts a new thread, entitled "Why did my thread get locked?" where he tries to explain himself. He completely fucks it up though, by asking where he can get torrents of "Narouto" (sic), which gets his ass subsequently banned.]
* Which is a complete lie, the kid in this hypothetical example is actually in Grade 7.

Man, I'd give anything to see the look on the faces of anyone caught in a situation like that. That would be pure comedy gold. Schadenfreude, yes, but harmless Schadenfreude if there ever was.
In other news, I have a cough that just won't go away. I'm downing syrup like I was Kevin Spencer, but it's still not helping. I will TRY to get a few proper reviews in of the latest AMVs that I've downloaded. Emphasis on "try". I always manage to forget to include AMVs that weren't downloaded locally. But this should not be a problem, since the only two downloaded direct recently was one by Sarah The Boring (the comedy one with a couple of guys imitating muppet voices, which was pretty funny) and a hentai one which was pretty brief and featured a lot of blood.
I got T.a.t.u's latest CD a few days ago, and I'm wondering if it has any obvious AMV uses. I suppose I could cobble together a simple Gatchaman AMV, now that ADV films is releasing the series in its original, pristine form. I have the first DVD of the ADV version of Gatchaman so far. (It has 6 episodes on it, which is pretty good, if you ask me) If I get anymore then perhaps I'll think if a project is warranted. It would be a novel combination. If not, then the R.O.D OAV would probably be good for coupling with T.a.t.u. Not that I would be in a rush to exploit the CD, however.

Birthday.
2005-10-31 02:27:43
I turned 32 today. Man, last year was definitely the worst year of my life, I'm extremely glad it's over. Very fucked up it was. I'm not going into any details...there is one person here who knows a couple of things but I'm not saying who. That Tsukuyomi Moon Phase and Negima licensing news really picked me up.
Don't worry, elegible girls on this site and others, I don't look a day over 20. Actually, on some days I don't look a day over 18, which is amazing. And very annoying when I try to enter certain establishments.
There's really not that much else to report. I need to take care of a backlog of reviews of the AMVs I've downloaded since my glorious return. I looked over the end bumper of the Wakaba project (still not started as such) and it looks like I'll have to do it over, as it totally sucks. Well, not really, but the timing of things is way askew.

Gaia AMV Guild
2005-10-22 06:34:10
I joined the AMV Guild on Gaia. The only familiar names there are SQ and Cyanna, but WTF. Another place to discuss AMVs.
GD on Gaia is very fucked up tonight. Normally, that would mean somebody would be trolling by creating threads with guro hentai pics in them, but today there was like a flood of religion/Jesus threads. Which is the most useless thing in the world. I'm too good a poster to be posting there. I'm twice the age of some of those kids, with an IQ of 129, and lots more knowledge. So when a teenage Jesus muffin from Texas (or wherever) says there's more proof that Jesus was an actual person than Julius Caesar, he's saying something I full well know is total bullshit, because I've researched the issue - and I don't mean gone on a few websites, I mean I've gone on a LOT of websites, and to the library as well. Like the Terminator, "I have detailed files." So this is not exactly a fair fight. A number of posts I make are so incisive, nobody bothers to quote them to make a refutation. Probably because they're afraid of getting pwned. So I tried doing the same thing with a mule account, and the same results were obtained. WTF. We will revisit this topic at a more appropriate juncture, because I'm pretty tired.
Oh, another prediction came true: the lockage of the cash flow discussion thread in Site Announcements (on this site).

Just for the Hell of it, a Partial List of Celebrities I would Have Sex with
2005-10-16 06:02:44
Ludivine Sagnier
Christina Aguilera
Anne Hathaway
Kim from America's Next Top Model (she's lesbo however )
Alyson Hannigan
Michelle Trachtenberg
Asia Argento
Naomi Watts
Yulia Volkova from TATU
Avril Lavigne
Lindsay Lohan
Lisa Loeb
Sarah Silverman
Selma Blair
Alicia Witt
Claire Danes
Sophie Marceau
Charlotte Gainsbourg
Jessica Alba
Luna Lane
Bella Donna
Leelee Sobeiski (I met her...sort of...once)
Milla Jovovich
Winona Ryder
A certain Harry Potter actress
Natalie Portman
.....just to name a few.
On Friday I saw Tsukuyomi Moon Phase and Samurai Champloo, the first two episodes of each. I like them both. A couple of days before that I bought the 2nd Eva DVD - not the platinum edition. If I start buying the Platinum DVDs, I will lose episodes, so I plan on buying the Collection DVD until Volume 4, and then start buying Platinum DVDs at Volume 4. That way there are no redundant/missing episodes.
I notice that the thread on how to get revenues for the Org is degenerating rapidly into a nasty little spat that'll wind up getting that thread pruned at the very least. I certainly hate it when that happens. Just take my idea and put out a fucking book already. It's also great that there are people in this world that would tolerate *justified* arrogance. Otherwise certain individuals here would be in quite a pickle.
