Starting to Crash Down on Me.
2006-02-24 03:38:28
Ugh. I think I'm having more problems in live than I've ever had in a while. I'm spacing out on turning in my assignments, I missed the cut off date to get a final bid in for my wig, I'm having problems getting my new DexDrive (downloads PS1 game saves) to work, another person at work quit, my comic order from Iowa City STILL hasn't come in, I can't access my e-mail account, I've got a midterm test coming up, and to top it all off, spring is around the corner and that means my paranoia of tornadoes is going to kick in. I know I'm going to pee my pants when I hear the words "low pressure system" mentioned. I know these are all little problems, but it's really bumming me out. I need someone to hold me...preferably a woman...who's my age.
Finished the Chobits manga a few days ago. Very well done ending. After reading it, I thought back to when it was first released a few years ago. A number of the male fans of the series were quite surprised that it had a large female following (it's a CLAMP series, of course it's going to have one) considering it was targeted towards a male audience. Most of the argument was based on the fact that, even though it was created by a group of females and done in the style of a shojo comic, it was actually a shonen comic and that some people felt girls shouldn't have been reading it. Sure it had its eechi moments and talked about sex once in a rare while, but I don't think it really matters. I think a great story can be enjoyed by anyone, no matter what the subject matter is. If it's targeted towards boys, there's really no problem with girls loving it too. And the same thing applies when it's taken the other way around. Look at The Virgin Mary is Watching Us (Marimite or Maria~sama as I refer to it). Without a doubt it's intended for a female audience, but look at how many guys love this series. Sure it lured some of us in with its lesbian overtones, but it certainly hooked me it its excellent plot and drama setting. Anything enjoyable is never defined by age or gender, if it's good, then it is.
I'm trying to get into this regimen of reading more novels and watching more movies along with my anime and manga. The book reading is coming along alright, but not so much with the movies. Everytime I'm with someone who mentions anything I haven't seen yet, they give me the standard, "what? you haven't seen it yet" reaction. It does have to do with "my schedule", but I'm also lazy concering a lot of thing, I say it all the time. But as far as what to watch, I hope I can watch something soon. Most of the problem deals with the fact that I've been watching fan subs off of my computer, and even then I don't watch a lot of those. I hope to figure this regimen out soon.
No call back on the temp job. And these are people I've worked with in the past, I figured I'd get in easy. What the hell?

What do you mean you don't want it? Not good enough for ya?

I've recently experimented with Avisynth and Virtual Dub Mod, which has helped me take care of all of the interlacing in the footage I have recently captured. This is some pretty amazing stuff. It's pretty cool that I'm actually able to do this after seeing everyone else on this website do it. The guide I'm reading really helps out a lot. But even though I'm making some slight progress on the project, it seems like I won't be able to make a completed video by the time ACen rolls around, which probably doesn't matter anyway, since I checked their rules for the AMV contest, and my video doesn't qualify. It looks like videos with abundant swearing will be disqualified, and my video will have plenty of it. Oh well, no biggy. I just hope I can get some fellow con-goers interested in it when I do finish it...and I also hope that Anime Iowa will be more tolerant as far as content goes, I hope.
Got around to completing all of Tekken 1, except for unlocking "Devil Kazuya" cause he's just a color edit, why bother. Thinking about getting Pocket Fighter next, yeah it's a silly and stupid game, maybe that's why I want it. I'm kinda of hesitant about getting a copy from ebay, because my friend Dark Hogosha bought one a couple of months ago, and he's not sure whether or not he wants to keep it since Capcom announced the S.F. Alpha collection, which has P.F. on it. I've asked whether or not he's willing to sell it to me, so he's thinking about it. But after I play that for a while, I want to get another Capcom fighter, but I'm not sure which one, either Darkstalkers, Street Fighter Collection 1 (the one with both versions of S.F. II Turbo and S.F.A. II Gold) or Rival Schools. Hey, now that I think about it, maybe Capcom will be smart and release a Rival Schools/Project Justice game, since they're going crazy with all of these compalation releases recently.
Apparently, Muslims are going crazy about some opinion comic someone drew. In other news, someone has learned to grow the hell up.
I'm getting some help from my Visual Basic teacher, so that class is getting easier, but Database Management is a total bitch. It's one of the hardest classes I've had to work in for the longest time. Most of the stress I'm getting is from trying to figure out normal forms. It's basically simplifying a database so that a person doesn't get repeated info or unnecessary data. You know, make it less complicated. Of course, trying to make it less complicated is the complicated part. I'm really uncertain as to how this is going to turn out. But I'm felling half and half about it, half of me cares while the other doesn't. Maybe I should see a tutor about this or something.
I'm starting to get that old feeling I use to have for the Monday scene again. We got a new player, Nick, an old 'friend' of mine from school. Good to see him again, but he's like one of those friends where I can't remember exactly why I knew him to begin with, feels kind of stupid to be in that sort of situation. We had a S.C. III tourney, or as D. Hogosha likes to call it, Kilik Calibur III. Not a lot of the regulars (better players) showed up, so that allowed me to bring out my A game with Taki, I've gotten pretty good with her, considering I don't have my own copy of the game, or any Calibur game. Because of that, I was able to get 3rd, pretty cool.
An instructor of mine told me about a temp job over at the local cabel station in town. I decided to apply for it in order to get some extra work experience, and maybe a chance at a paid internship, maybe even a permanate job. The details are still being worked out, but it includes a little bit of video editing and data entry, two things I CAN do. I might have a shot at getting it since the guys I talked to actually know me from community access stuff I did in their studio. They're going to start calling all of the applicants next week, and I'm really looking forward to it.
@Arigatomina - Writer's block is when you can't think of any good ideas at all, which sound's like something different from what you're going through. What you're going through sounds like what all artists go through. It's natural, just wait for the right moment before getting to work on another video. You'll know when that happens.

OH NOES! I GOTS THE SPYWARE!

And is it ever annoying. I've been able to get most of it off of my computer, but a little bit still lingers inside. I should be able to take care of this once I install the new version of Norton that I got in the mail, had to get it, the experation date on the trial version I have is coming up. From what I understand, no real damage has occured because of it, which I should be thankful for, but I'm going to be extra cautious from now on. And I'm going to keep myself guarded with a little more than just some plain old wishful thinking.
The Monday night get togethers have been resurrected. This gives me mixed feeling at the moment. It's good to get back together with some of my friends, but I'm not really feeling the excitment that I use to have on Mondays, maybe it's because we're just starting them up again and we need to get the word out.
You know, I'm not really looking forward to Super Bowl Extra Large. Probably because I thought it would have been cool if the Bears made it, not a NFL fan, just thought it'd be cool, like when the Sox won the World Series. It doesn't really matter since I'm working that night. Maybe I'll try and see what the commercials are like, but I'm not even interested those either.
Installed AMVapp, but I'm not really doing a lot with it yet. Procrastinating on the project, again.
Classes are going alright. I've been having a few problems with VB and it's caused me to get a little behind, but I'm starting to catch up on it. Database Management is a little confusing since it gets into the whole nitty gritty of Access, which seems kind of pointless to me. So far, everything has been going alright though.
Finally got around to finishing F.F. IX. Very good ending, if only someone had told me it was going to be half an hour long. I'm surprised I actually beat it, considering the conditions of my final team. Zidane was tiny, zombie and had silence (during his Limit Break too), Steiner was constantly at 1 HP (but that resulted in high damage Minus Strikes), Eiko was dead and couldn't be resurrected, and I just kept making Freya perform Jump. All in all, a really great game, now I want to see what the "second" ending is like.

Gathering My Tools.

Adobe Premiere came a lot sooner than expected. And now that I have it, I should have declined getting it. The reason is because I Pro 1.5, which probably has more stuff on it than I really need. The software cost me over $200 (with the discount), and I could have just gotten a Premiere/Photoshop pack for only $100 at Best Buy now that I remember. What the fuck was I thinking? Anyway, I haven't installed it yet, I want to practice ripping DVDs first, then I'll start editing.
Once again, global warming is a bitch.
The spring semester began today. Until March, I only have two classes, Visual Basic and Database Managment. VB looks tedious to do, but it looks kinda of easy. I guess I'll just have to find out later.
The evening staff over at work still needs a little push in the right direction in order to get things done. We explain to them how to do their job, but they just don't commit to doing it. It sucks. I would suggest firing half of them and then hire people until we find someone willing to put in the effort.

Blame it all on human error.

Computer still works fine, but I've been having problems with the DSL line. And it's all my fault. What I've been doing is turning off the DSL router whenever I wasn't using the internet. I found out that this screws up the setting in the router and I had to reconfigure them, I had to have my ISP help me out with that, and it's not cheap, so now I know better. Other than that, I've been going to Anime Suki to get some decent fansubs, watching Sexy Commando right now, stupid and hilarious stuff. I ordered Premier at a college bookstore close to my neighborhood and it should be here next week.
The Bowl Games have been nothing but rigged. Fuck you Gators. At least the Rose Bowl was fun to watch.
My New Years was pretty crappy, considering I had to work that day, and it was busy as hell, and a number of people called in. But other than that, I didn't really do anything, just another day to me. At least things have gotten a little slow now.
