  • you made a good friend to me... while you were all broken and torn... 2002-03-29 22:56:49 I've finally gotten a hold of a few albums pre release from new artists that I had only previously heard one or two tracks from...
    30 Seconds to Mars.... this bands one song was really making me hope the rest of the stuff was every bit as deep and complex as the one was.... and the rest of the cd? What I've made it through is absolutely what I was expecting...truly a great cd in the making... when it comes out in a month or so I'm buying it and I hope maybe in that time I can convince some people I know to buy it too... its that good..

    Coheed and Cambria... I've previously recomended the one track I've heard from them... called Delirium trigger... the rest of the cd keeps up the wild range and musical/lyrical complexity I liked so much on that one song... its another definite buy...

    I've also nabbed the new Jerry Cantrell cd... I'm dling now the new Weezer (not the green album...the one after that thats coming out in a few weeks/months)... its been a while since I actually had music connections to get these things so I'm catching up....

    at least with all the ones I've downloaded so far I'm planning on buying the cd and making sure the artist gets paid (or at least doing my part for it)... yeah.. so I don't feel guilty about dling complete albums ...something I almost never do unless the cd in question is out of print or just dead to the music world never to see the light of day again...


    yeah just had to kinda go over that so I could make sure it was clear in my head...

    Maybe I might get some editing done this weekend since I'm not hanging out with girlfriend... on one hand.. very sad cause I won't be spending time with her... but on the other hand it will be kinda nice to edit on the video again since its been over a month since I touched it..

    anyway... thats enough.. I'm going to sleep..

  • hold out your hands and pray not to die, grow your little white wings and let your angel fly, blow out your candles and save the light...... 2002-03-24 21:32:05 I've now been paid for the first time as an independent contractor on a video editing project... woo! Well as of yet I haven't done much editing.... The paycheck was for all the research I did on finding footage and music for the video game...

    Fun eh?

    Lots of potential work showing up on that job front... same can be said for my other job although its much less interesting... 2 jobs at the same time is nice on the bank account but bad on the body and mind.... I'm getting frazzled... the Pool Management gig during the week is my bread and butter till I start making real cash on the video editing front... so I can't really drop either of them either... I can't really drop school either... but this portfolio class is really annoying me... slides? Why do I have to take slides? Like my house or the studios at school are set up for that. Dammit.... I'm gonna make due and hope they don't complain since I have so much 3d stuff and not any painting and very few 2d works... unless they count my cg stuff as 2d.... I guess it is but technically. eh... this is what I'm talkinga bout.... getting really frazzled..

    Earshot... the band... the lead singer on the song "Get Away" which the local radio is playing alot lately... he has Maynard Keenan of Tool down absolutely perfect.... its crazy... sounds just like him... not sure how good or bad that is but I really dig the bands sound... a nice mix of Tool and Tool Influences... ;)

    MC Chris... the song is Fett's Vette.... My god... take your average unhealthy obsessed star wars fan... cross him with Eminem and put him on a steady diet of Speed, crack and Helium... then you'll get an idea of this song... its sooooo worth downloading I'll toss you all a site where you can nab the song...

    Movies... usually Matts territory but I thought I'd mention this terrible B movie I caught on ShowTime at 3 am the other night.... Its called "Cyber Vengeance" and its probably one of the most expensive (at least in theory) B movies I've seen in quite a while... its based on the dark future (wow new territory there) and all prisoners are held in virtual reality prisons... hmmm :)

    the death row inmates instead of being executed as they are supposed to be are given a more invasive form of virtual reality and sent into historical scenarios where rich investors get to hunt them down for a price and for bragging rights... weeeellll its pretty shitty as you can imagine.. But the sheer number of sets, locations and costumes with the special effects not even coming into play too often during the scenarios.
    The hero of the story is a guard in the virtual prison who escorts the prisoners to the death chamber when its there time... he also is obsessed with history and virtual reality games.... He is basically god in these games and plays them constantly but is also frustrated by the historical inaccuracies... "Wait he used a drunken monkey move on me and this was supposed to be 5th century china"... or something along those lines... yeah... nevermind the giant blonde barbarian doing shitty kung fu...

    ahh.. well..
    If I was giving stars...out of 5 as a movie? 1 star... as a B movie? 2.5 stars...which seems harsh but its somewhat enjoyable for sheer laughability... it really is a B movie in every sense of the word.
     
  • I see the light at the end, every time I take a step it gets dim, tell me is this hell were living in? 2002-03-16 14:49:20 My parents have finally entered the digital age.
    I convinced them (since they kept borowing my dvd player) to buy their own.
    They actually bought a combination dvd and vhs player. Its alot nicer than I thought it would be. It plays basically everything... DVD, CD, VCD, SVCD, Mp3cd, vhs, SVhs and anything I've forgotten. They got a good deal on it at just under $250 too... I was impressed to say the least.

    anyway.. I'm keeping busy with work. Working with the pool management gig on Mon, Wed, Fri. Going to school on Tue, Thur and on the weekends working on the digital editing job... which leaves very little time for editing, art or anything else... at least I'm still able to spend time with my girlfriend which makes it all worth it. I just wish I saw her more... speaking of which I'm gonna get off the computer so we can go have dinner and see Ice Age.
