"But the energy is distributed evenly, not just to the one that kills"
yeah. I can see that... but also I don't remember at what point but the guy who played "Turkish" in Snatch was explaining it to Jet Li and said "Each time he kills one of you the energy is divided among the survivors".
Its never said that anytime one of them dies the energy is divided... only when they are killed by one another...
I still agree that the movie has problems... I just don't think thats one of them... oh well. ;)

Hsien just thought I'd mention the thought I had about The One.
I don't think Ebert ever realized that essentially the one was ripping off of "the Highlander" in that you only get the energy upgrade if actually kill your enemy. Its almost directly like the quickening in Highlander.
So there is no super powered old people around since none of them are going around killing the others. Thats why the good guys were contemplating killing Jet Li (the good one) before or after the evil Jet li was dead. IF they killed him and then the resulting only one left then there would be no "one"... or at least a one with all the power.
If you don't buy the highlander element to it go back and view were the evil Jet Li kills the first shown Li.... he does something very reminesent of the highlander movies except without all the special effects. ;)
yeah it doesn't really matter....... just a movie and even the best of them have problems. not that the one is the best of them either... but I enjoyed it for what it is...

Just got a call from my digital Editing boss...
Theres a 3 part video hes doing for $9,000. Each video costs 3 large.... the one he wants me to do is 5 minutes long... assuming the cost of hiring a diver for all the underwater footage and the cost of voiceover actor doesn't run to high I'll get about $500 for doing the 5 minute video... maybe more if he can get away with not hiring a super expensive VA.
Also I have an oportunity to be a voice actor in 2 of the games that we are doing In game movies for. In the war game I would be one of the American Soldiers and in the hunting game I would be the announcer type guy... $35 bucks an hour for that work.. YAY!
just saying all that... its odd... I can't believe I'm actually gonna be doing all this...
rock...
If you like the band "At the drive in" or anything related to that you should check out the band with the really long name. ;Þ
"And you will know us by the trail of the dead". Thats the name of the band... their new cd rocks... check em out if you like that kind of thing.

Day 2 of being a professional editor went alot like day 1... I just searched the internet more for some Royalty free music we could afford the copyright for...
its something really specific we are looking for and its for a video game so we have to make sure there are no "copyright only good up to 10,000 unit claims or anything like that". Or if the do have some stipulations like that we will have to specially negotiate with some folks... which costs money...
lots of fun... I can't wait till I start actually editing... once we get footage and the music liscensed then we will be on track.. theres also lots of other products in the pipeline such as 3 videos we have to make for a company in Florida. the guy I work for (who owns the company) and his camera man are flying down to florida later this week to shoot the footage for that.... its almost all underwater footage so it should be fun to try and edit all that into a consistent tape.... Of the 3 videos we are doing for that company I am editing at least one... possibly 2. Hopefully that will pay better than the 200 I'm getting for the research and liscensing of the video game stuff....
ah.. as for my personal editing? I havent had time to work on it in a week or two.. between my job at the Pool management place on the opening crew pulling 60 hours a week and the editing job AND SCHOOL I'm quite busy and generally exhausted.

Its an every day thing....

Busy week so far.... As opposed to last week when I just had school and no work.... this week I have no school (Spring break) and 2 jobs! agh!! I'm going nuts... but its ok... Monday and Tuesday I did the usual for the time of the year (22 hours of work in 2 days) pool openings with my summer employer.... pulling covers.. basic cleaning of the pool facilities and more boring shit... leading up to today!
MY FIRST DAY AS A PROFESSIONAL VIDEO EDITOR! WOOOooo... yeha
so what did I do? research... Its for a video game.. were doing 4 movies for the game... one opening, one mid game, one ending and a credits movie... I'm doing the research today for music... not bad.. surfing the internet for somewhat affordable music to liscense. The sample mp3 of what they want for the music is great sounding... but if we just liscensed that it would cost $10,000... so that song is out of the question... its not a top level game... only a $300,000-$500,000 budget on this and we only get a small chunk for doing the video and sound effects... for the research I'm only getting $200 bucks but hey its work... and it was a very short day... which rocks in my opinion...
When I'm done with the music and video researching and searching I'll get paid.. then eventually we will start on editing.... then it should be real fun. All while balancing this with my real job with the crazy hours this time of year brings....
At least I'm making money again. Now I can justify me buying the special edition of Jin-Ro..
heh. ;) yay!
On Saturday he asked me to come back (since Thursday and Friday I am doing more pool openings) and do some video research. We get to liscense some footage from the government getting war footage and stuff.... sounds like lots of fun actually. I can't wait.
