First off... You need to swing by
http://www.electronicwhore.com/
and download the Song The Drapery Falls by Opeth. Yes I spelled that right.
Its an incredibly diverse and complex track with a little of everthing from Light radio friendly lyrics to deep almost death metal speaking. the guitar work is amazing and just.... wow.. its also almost 11 minutes long so its one of the best flowing songs that I've ever heard.
while your there if your into Jazz there is also a nearly 20 minute long instrumental (I think its all instrumental) jazz track listed as
Dexter Gordon - The Hunt.
The girl who runs that site has a wild swing in taste of music. She's introduced me to a few new bands which I've really liked. For you that might not mean alot but I usually introduce people to bands they've never heard of... not the other way around.. ;)
Other multimedia fun..
http://lordrae.hosting4less.com/temp/tempor/outtakes.mpeg
If you have seen teh end of the KYoto arc (I only mention this cause of possible spoilers) then you should check out a little compilation of the outtakes from the dub.... even if you despise the dub you gotta enjoy how wonderfully out of character some of these things are. ;) Saito walking away saying "its all about the bling bling" is just one of the funny ones.. ;) Shishio's (sp?) VA has a wonderful sense of humor about the character and some of the things going on onscreen while hes supposed to be serious.
I can actually see the outtake from Kenshin's master showing up in a video cause I mean how rocking would it be to have ... well I won't spoil the line change... heh.. its funny though...
I also enjoyed Sword hunter mispronouncing Yumi's name and then being corrected by the little voice from off camera... hehe..
When I go to school today to work on my stone sculpture I'm gonna take my digital camera and then I can show you all whats keeping me nice and busy. ;)
I'm at the 4 minute mark on my Generator Gawl video.. so minus some retiming of a few critical spots and finishing the last 20 seconds the video is almost done... even though in my head I think its more like 75% complete...

I'm contemplating
2002-02-20 14:23:46
... I'm really considering making a signifigant envestment in our web hosting.
The site I've been using for my html and random file uses has a 25 gig limit of bandwidth... I've had this account for approaching 2 years... In May when I have to repay for the year I may be tempted to switch to a much higher plan.
here are the specs.
1GB (1000MB) Disk space
75,000MB Monthly Bandwidth
Unlimited FTP access
PIII 1GHz & 512MB RAM Server
Dedicated OC-12 Backbone
Price?
$100 a month.
now I can probably afford that... but do I want to? Maybe I can get eric to split the price with me but I dunno if he even wants to do it.
So i guess this is more a question to myself than to anyone else but if anyone has an opinion....
The main thing is that its a signifigant investment for just a hobby.... argh..
the price seems fair and I know the company is good and reliable...
it comes out to around $1.33 a gig for bandwidth and thats pretty damn good...
hmmm... if only I could afford the 1TB of bandwith we occasionally pull..
but I'll settle for a relatively high volume for a reasonable price....
shiiiiitt..

right as Dvd and dvd burners are coming into their own they announce a new format...
I actually heard about this a while back but its the first time I've heard them giving a name other than "a Super disk". They hold 6 times what a dvd is capable of.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/entertainment/new_media/newsid_1829000/1829241.stm
Damn... I guess its fitting with the huge harddrives nowadays... even with a dvd burner how long would it take you to back up a 100 or a 180 gig harddrive?
Well with these each disk holds 27 gigs and 13 hours of footage...
cool.
;)
Other stuff... hmmm
hopefully you all have at least heard of Inktank.com and my favorite online comic... Angst Technology.
While this strip should require knowing what happened the previous week or so worth of strips it stands pretty good on its on just for the reference to furries.. ;) but if you have to know the guys were at a Counter Strike tournament and the Llama was kicking their ass till the worst player (marc) accidentally gave the Llama a head shot.. hehe..

on to other things..
If you remember me posting those fan made "Very Secret Diary's" of the Lord of the Rings characters then you should check out this one... someone associated with the original writer (Casandra Claire) set up a website archive of the various diaries.
http://diaries.diagon.org/
Gollums has been making me laugh for a few days now...
http://home.nyu.edu/~amw243/diaries/gollum.html
My favorite part is that they used all old Elijah Wood movies as the instruments of evil torture.. hehe.. very clever...
aight... I was gonna say alot more things and do less linking but I have completly lost that train of thought.. oh well..
off to watch the Fantasm dvd. Thanks Matt!

one of my favorite new bands whom I know almost nothing about actually has a used to be celebrity in the group... hmmm.. not sure what to think about that...
The band is called "30 seconds 2 mars" (www.thirtysecondstomars.com) and so far I've only actually heard/found 2 tracks by them. From what I've heard it reminds me of the first time I heard Tool when the Undertow cd was released.... now that doesn't mean that they sound like Tool. Just that the musical experience is similar. but thats just my opinion off two songs...
The two songs I have are titled "Revolution" (although rumor is this song will not appear on the cd when it comes out) and "Buddha for Mary" which is pretty creepy if you listen to the lyrics but if you don't, it sounds kinda pretty and nice... (but still heavy... )
As for the Celebrity in the band i'm basing this off a partial ID from my girlfriend and some Band gossip from buddyhead..... Buddyhead tends to be rather on with thier gossip musically even though they hate all music thats not shitty punk and old school guns N roses. Anyway... the Celebrity appears to be Jared Leto from the old Mtv drama thing "My So Called Life". The bands video on the website appears to show Jared with a dust mask thing over his face for some reason but my girlfriend recognized his eyes.. ;)
anyway.. not really all that interesting but if you get a chance check out the band and the songs I mention. Their cd should come out in mid march or so... I can't wait.. maybe some more songs will be leaked by then and I can get a more full idea of their sound. Better yet maybe they will tour near here soon and I can catch a concert..
oh well. enjoy..

"Dead finger on the pulse of this nation, no pulsation
Firearms are growing faster than the population
Armed like Octopi, preoccupied with bereavement
growing old's become the new benchmark of our achievement
Every metropolis has turned to a necropolis
Disarm the nuclear family; stifle the rifle not the populace
Relationships are hollow as an empty casing
Time is racing, a brick wall is what we're facing"
gotta love Darwins Waiting Room.... although I prefer the old version of that song to the one thats on the nationally released cd... :(
I got back from Athens late last night... Fun place.. I see why everyone enjoys going to college there...
hmmm.. everyones summarizing their weekends it seems... damn how come all my ideas seem to have been done already? ;)
Went down on friday... it was cool... only drank a 6 pack of Shiner Bock (mmmm... Texas beer... german recipe... Does beer get better?) and we played alot of Xbox... I kicked everyones ass at DOA3.... then I kicked everyones ass at Halo.. then I kicked everones ass at NFL Fever 2k2.... then I mostly kicked ass at Project gotham Racing... then no one would play with me anymore.. shit...
so yeah.. ;) I guess I should let people win occasionally so that they won't quit angry... although I figured playing a team game of slayer with 3 on 1 would help them out... but somehow I still won.. I know I'm not that good.. I definitely know i'm not that good..... maybe beer provides for a better Halo player.. heh. ;)
Saturday.. woke up around 3... it was a beautiful day... My best friend (the reason I was in athens) had lost his passport (only id he has) and some random girl he somewhat had been talking to had it.. so we went downtown to meet her and hang out... sat at some resturant tables on Colleg Ave... girl came... we had a couple beers.... went to subway about 5 blocks away and had lunch/dinner... then we went to the grocery store and bought supplies for the night... a 12 pack of Bass and a 6 pack of Laughing skull (they didn't have Shiner dammit). Laughing skull is an Atlanta brewed beer if you didn't know.. ;)
we drank most of the case of bass and 2 of the laughing skulls... all while playing more halo except this time it was just my friend and me.... so no team matches....
Around 10pm we decided to head out to the bars (my best friend is a bartender/server at Wild Wing cafe) and he had 30 bucks in Comp cards so we could at least drink for 30 bucks worth plus whatever we got hooked up... At the Wing we did get major hooked up.. I had 3 red bull and Vodka's. (Favorite drink) 2 of them I know had at least 3 shots of vodka in them so I was very much drunk by the time we left the bar... Some random girl Jason works with gave me Mardi Gras Beads.... eh... guess I had them on for the rest of the night.... not sure what happened to them though..
at the next bar (Classic City)I had another RB & V... then at the next bar(Mean Mikes) I had another.....
Then at some place called Gator Haters (hey its athens and I'm no florida fan so its works) we switched to beer but Jason doesn't remember anything from this point on... somehow we ended up with a miller light (UGH) and then a Miller High life... eh.. sucked but it was beer....
then it was past 2 and everwhere stopped serving.. after stopping in at the Grill (24 hour resturant) we finally made it back to the apartment.... we finished the 6 beers that were left.... played some Max Payne and watched about half of Dracula on DVD (love that movie).... went to sleep around 7 or 8... woke up around 1:30 still feeling a little drunk... glad I didn't puke and had all my memory intact...
ah well.. it was a good night.. haven't had anything like that in a really really long time and it was fun... now my liver and checking account need some recovery time.
oh sunday? Sunday was fun.. we went to the Lady Dogs vs Lady Vols (Go Vols!) basketball game.... really close game... last 4 seconds tenn almost lost it.... thankfully they won and I could walk out with my orange on and head held high.. ;)
Drove home a little after that... stopped in to visit Katie in Atlanta (My GF) since I was missing her something fierce.... actually I'm still missing her even though I saw her for a few hours... its wierd...
anyway... I've been typing way to long.. especially for me...
Current video projecT? Making Generator Gawl seem sad.. not too hard but its a bit difficult..
status? 50% done... yep.. working pretty fast on this one... not sure why..
