  • Oh hi 2018-10-26 06:07:11 I didn't forget this journal, shut up.

Nothing new going on though, I have had such an insanely busy fall I have barely had time for my own AMVs. The things I've mainly been working on have been Tracon and then Kitsunecon after that, where I hosted a fun little AMV-show.
Next up in the world of Finnish AMV-scene is Frostbite and Yukicon in 2019, but the rest of the year I will be working on building the GMV Awards as the Head Judge of Flow. Wish me luck, and if anyone's interested in judging, throw me a message!

Today I am travelling to visit my best friend, another weekend filled with anime, music and videos and of course AMVs. Can't wait!
  • Big day (dundundun) 2018-07-05 03:38:20 I have been added to the AMV.org Moderator team, and I am just so excited and happy. I've been somewhat of a lurker here for years and I'm still pretty shy around people, but I really hope this will help me get to know people more and get more invested into the international AMV community.

I've been going through the stuff I was taught and it all seems a bit overwhelming (and will probably take a while before I am fully confident in my moderating) but I'm sure I can handle it. So, to all the new people; Hi, I'm Cirera and I will do my best!

Thank you so much for welcoming me to the team GloryQuestor and Kireblue. <3
  • Deserved wins? 2018-06-25 03:11:49 I saw a tweet chain floating around today about how people at conventions tend to say how someone didn't deserve to win at a contest.

If you disagree with a winner or think someone else should have won instead, why not just go to the person you think should've won and praise them? Make them feel better, give them positive feedback, don't feed the possible disappointment or bitterness they might be feeling. There's no reason to make the person who won feel bad either. You didn't like their performance? So what? The judges obviously did, and if you want to make a difference, why not try and become a judge in the next contest? But be careful; social media nowadays IS your resumé, their public displays of WHO YOU ARE and how you act, and when you apply to shit, the people in charge WILL look your shit up.

If you're given a chance, cherish it. If you fuck it up, you might not get another chance.

You don't need to put other people down to compliment someone else.
  • Pondering 2018-06-19 09:11:59 There are still some cracks in the community, always have been I guess, probably always will be. There always seems to be some on-going drama, whether it's passive or active, and currently it's taken the form of a separate Discord group.
This group of editors posted a Tweet with the Discord link, saying it's a new AMV server that's open to everyone, so I joined to take a look. Mostly it's pretty dead, and it has mainly members who have either left or never joined AMV.fi's Discord. I've noticed when I talk in it, people rarely reply or they change the subject. The first rule of the Discord is "No bullying", yet they actively seem to ignore one of their members.
I'm glad the Discord is peaceful and no drama has occurred within it. I hope it stays that way. Everyone deserves their own group and community in which they feel welcome and comfortable, and I'm happy they have each other. Still, I wish they would deal with their issues instead of just ignoring them.

I guess AMVs and drama walk hand in hand, in every community.
