  • THE SWEET OPINION 2005-05-14 17:52:17 This is the opinion that really got to me. This is the official opinion, unedited (other than the edits I and the creator made). Please Read:

    # Good SEE GENERAL>>>
    # Bad SEE GENERAL>>>
    # General Hey, I hope you are having a good day.

NGE is my favorite series (next to Gundam) , so I've seen numerous NGE AMVs. I will say that your's grew on me after a minute or so. I don't particularly like the song, or System of a Don in general; personally, I think the CD was a waste of my money. I had thought about Chop Suey being used as a song for a NGE AMV, but decided not to because I wouldn't be able to do what I wanted with the animation at the time. I was using WMM and I just was not good with that program.

YOu however decided to use the song, and WMM, and everything worked.

I will say that there is no excuse for the subtitles, converting the WMV into MPG, then using VirtualDub to crop themm out is simple, and free. Also, there was a few lost frames in the AMV, everynow and then the frames would either skip, or add in some fill from the beginning, or end of the edited clip. I can't say much on this note, mainly because thats what WMM does, takes what you want, and gives you what you don't want. Lastly, all AMVs are getting to be more profressional; one way that happens is that the creator adds in a screen telling the audience what the anime is, the song is, the band is, who you are.... It just helps people who download in batches to remember why they downloaded the video, plus, not everyone knows what NGE is.

The quality could've been a lot better, there are a few more high quaity versions of the anime out there on torrents. But, I didn't take off too much on that.

Anyway, I hope I helped you; I would appreciate it if you op'd one of my videos. It usually goes, I op you, you op me, then we op each other until one of us dies.

    ^_^

    *EDIT*

1.) I reazlize and understand that the words may cut into the actual image, however, sacrificing that little bit would have made a world of difference, considering that most of the space was black anyway..
2.) I read the video description; though, I still want to relay the thought, the video could'vebeen better.
3.) I will say that the video was choppy and blocky, and I will also answer 'better quality' to your question. AMVs.org doesn't have a 100mb limit for a reason (obviously, you couldhave added a little more size, as well as a good bit more quality.)
4.) I'm not new to AMV making, or WMM. I've worked with it before, and I know what it can and can't do. It seemed kinda wierd that you think you confused me. I'm not sure what you mean by that. ?_?
    5.) Watching your other video.

    # Creator

Just wanted to say that I left the subtitles on there because there was times when it was either on the video portion or border lining it, If you watch it again closely you will see it.

Second I put the reason why I left the video quality the way it was on the Video Comments that you see before you download it. Maybe next time people should read the whole thing before they just go download it >.>

"Look you can say the footage is choppy and blocky but I'll just ask you this question: Which is better quality or only having to download for like 15 seconds and saving AMVs.org bandwidth?"

If you want a better version just send me an IM on AIM and I'll send you one.

Ok I'll try to explain this the best I can. The frame skipping is due to WMM's lack of precision in selecting spots where you can cut frames. It skips i think every .07 seconds or something like that so you may be unable to snip a certain clip at a certain time that you want. This can leave a very split moment in which an undesired frame will appear, which I really did not want. Only way to correct this is to cut the clip a bit further ahead. This isn't a bad thing but if you don’t get to start the clip from where you wanted/planned to. This can cause Sync problems.

Anyways thanks for the op and I probably just confused you totally with that explanation. I'll get a op up for you sometime.

PS - If you want quality watch my other AMV. Like I said, I did this one when I was 14... I'm 18 now.

    *EDIT*

Future reference for your future opinions buddy: you came on a little strong, maybe you should use half of the opinion to comment on the good parts of the AMV as well as the bad parts instead of using it ALL for the bad parts. This is so you dont leave the creator depressed and in a bad mood (he won't snap back at you).

I'm taking everything you said into consideration for my next AMV, that is if I can find the courage to make another one.

PS - Check my journal if you want to know specifically how you helped me

    ----Am I mean?
  • PEOPLE LIKE THE SUGAR COATING 2005-05-14 17:47:18 OK, I'm not really venting, but I have a problem with SOME AMV creators (You know who you are, and I won't be so childish to bad mouth you, by name, in my journal). It seems that opinions, that otherwise would be defined as "A conscience mental thought, determined by one's feelings about a specific topic," now must contain at least 50% good opinion, and no more than 50% bad opinion. It isn't about what you REALLY think, it's about making the opinion so nice, and 'sugar coated' that the creator doesn't get hurt when you tell him/her that you didn't like their AMV.

Am I crazy, or is the entire purpose of opinions to give the creator a feeling for what the viewer thinks about the AMV?

Anyway, I'm not saying that I write 100% bad opinions, but I refuse from sugar coating. Apparently I caught some creators on their periods, or in a males' case, Men's PMS. (Not intended as a sexist joke)
  • Back in the Saddle Again! 2005-03-31 09:51:34 Back again after being away for so long...

It's been like 7 or 8 months since I've worked on a video. I've been super-busy. Oh well. I've worked hard, but I seem to be a little rusty now. I finished my newest video (FLCL - Weight of the World), and will soon start on another video, undetermined at the moment. The MM FF AMV never left the ground, as I quit Final Gate a long long time ago. And in two months, I leave for Paris Island, South Carolina, Marine Corp Recruit Training. Yay!
  • Finished 'Pilot's Fuel' Remasterization 2004-06-23 10:53:07 I finished remastering my AMV 'Pilot's Fuel'.

I am having a bit of 'makers block', can't seem to think of another AMV. I was thinking of a Full Metal Alchemist trailer, but I have a feeling that I may lose interest in it. Oh well, I'll think of something.
  • Changing my mind (again)! 2004-04-16 14:38:22 Again, I am changing my AMV schedule. I now am planning on making a NGE: EOE AMV to Powerman 5000's song 'The End of Everything.' I plan on putting some lip-syncing in it; this will be my first AMV with intentional lip-syncing.
