To those who may find this page, welcome to the old guard. I remember I made this account when I was like 14? 15?
As of now I am approaching 30 years old. That tells you how long this place has been around. I don't really look at new stuff anymore, this account is mostly to download old stuff that I remember fondly.
AMV as an artform has mostly died off, IMO. Rather than it being how well you can make the music fit to video, it became more of wank off-ery based on how well you can edit and fit effects into clips. Its a damn shame. I know those kinds of things won good points back in the day as well, but that was before good video editing software was readily available to the public.
That said, I dont think all new AMVs are bad. I think there are many that are worth your time, they're just a little more diamond in the rough. I dont think the one's I find bad are "bad" for all consumption, I just think that, as you age, you should hold things in higher regard. Look for those creators who really truly care about their craft. Look for artists who arent in it to just be like "look what I can do in After Effects!!111!". Look for those who really think about how they put things together.
More importantly, I urge to look over the list of so many shitty Linkin Park AMVs to truly appreciate how good the good ones are.
I love this site and everything it stands for. I hope to see it again when I am 60 years old.
