JOURNAL: Rebus_Valstay (Kenneth McQueen)

  • Addition to last post: 2001-11-29 11:44:39 I forgot to mention in the comments on Saltwater the most obvious thing...tears. I do think I failed that video, but I released it anyway because I had a friend at school that was about to add it VIA Proxy.

    2. Yeah, but I've always been that way so nah, you aren't a freak. I also tend to get individual songs stuck in my head.

Q:"Does music make images and forms spring into your mind? Colors? Shapes? Temperatures? Emotions?". Yeah. When hearing a song for the first time I often don't even listen to lyrics but think of them as a musical instrument only. Then I try to listen to the subtle natures of the melody and the interactions of those instruments to try to understand what the musician was feeling at the time. Lyrics can help and understanding them can add value to the song as well, IMHO, but understanding the underlaying metaphors and emotions is more important than taking the lyrics at face value. There are often times where I can listen to a song and see a possible AMV but who knows...they'd probably be FUBAR anyway. But back to the subject...in my AMV I tried to play on 'Saltwater' as a metaphor for angst and also as that sting and that bitterness of being alone.

  • Show me your war face! 2001-11-28 14:11:24 I was planning on getting a DVD or two today but I'm still stuck on campus because my crappy little Ford is still dead. Ugh, I think I still need some sleep and maybe I should stop playing FireArms until 6am in the morning. I was surprised to actually see a conversation in the AIM chat room yesterday...I didn't know that people stayed on long enough to do so. Anyway I was reminded my I don't download AMVs done in DiVX. Oh well...time to wait for the tow truck to pick up my car.
  • Crap 2001-11-27 23:09:34 That little video didn't work.
