  • hisashiburi de gozaimasu 2003-04-02 00:45:09 So yeah, a year just happened. Waste went to Anime Central in aught-two and wasn't screened. Now it's available for download. Get it while it's hot, folks, 'cuz it might not be around for long.
  • Don't bring a lead pipe to school 2002-03-20 12:52:51 Ahh, Uo-chan, I love you so. Anyway, I managed to swipe the second Kenshin OAV disc from an acquaintance, so the first two minutes of Waste will be pretty damn near finished after I get the chance to slip that footage in. I wish I had more material to work from for the rest of the piece, but what can you do... except buy more anime... ugh.

On another note, Metropolis was ok. Amazing visually, of course, but plot wise not one to grab me in particular. The Tezuka character designs grew on me throughout the piece to the point where they were rather endearing by the end, which was a pleasant surprise.
  • Wasting my time with Waste (*grumble*) 2002-03-06 13:54:17 Damn technology. Damn my slow-ass 750 mhz athlon... Ok, it's not really that slow, but it sure as heck feels that way when I try to manipulate 740x480 dvd rips in Premiere. And then when I go to render, they artifact to hell. I'm thinking of recapturing all my dvd footage at 352x240, just to make the manipulation less painful (and cut down on rendering times); it should still come out looking decent, and at this point, I'm willing to sacrifice some quality for additional speed.

I found a great clip for "the painter" in Big O, so I can ditch the hellish Boys Be divx conversion that was giving me such a headache (although I still prefer it content-wise... ah well, we can't have everything). I'd still like to find a better clip for the writer than the R.O.D. one, but it'll do for now; so thus far, the actor, the writer, the painter, the open book, the farmer (a few options for that), the outlaw (sort of), the climber, are all taken care of in one way or another. I still need something that "doesn't know where to stop," but I figure that should be easy enough.

The real challenge in putting this video together will be the repeated choruses, the musical interludes, and the fade-out at the end. The first two verses are a cakewalk... Now is when I have to find the real meat of the video. Ho hum. There should be enough stuff in all the new discs I've been picking up to more than fill the void... I really like the scene in the beginning of the second episode of SoulTaker, so I'll have to figure out how to rip anamorphically with DVDtoMPG, not a task I'm relishing.

    Japanese sentence of the day:

    "Boku wa ningen ja nai."
  • I am a man of constant sorrow, re: the job market 2002-01-11 13:04:12 Dag burn it! I've sworn off my computer until I can get ahold of a job. This "education" must be funded somehow... But I wanna work on AMVs. Life as a middle-class American white male attending a small liberal arts college ain't easy. Ok, maybe it is. But I can still complain.
  • Nyo nyo nyo!! >:D 2002-01-05 19:33:47 I have officially begun production on my next AMV. This is not indicative in any sense of when it will be completed, but I have a few cuts laid down that I think are here to stay. Provided I come across quality source in the time alotted, I'm aiming to participate in the Acen contest this year. The AMG video to Better Than Ezra's "Closer" is on hold indefinitely while I work on this current project, which is incorporating clips from various shows to the Phish song "Waste." Romance r0xx0rz. Thus far, Kachou Ouji, Sakura Taisen, El Hazard, Boys Be, and possibly the Kenshin OAV will be making an appearance... Updates as they happen.
