Self-Titled, one of my two AWA expo videos, is now online, thanks to the generous hosting of Ere Cell Studios! In case you happened to see it at AWA, it was the Ghibli video set to the last three songs from The Beatles' Abbey Road (unless you count Her Majesty ^_^)

Yes, that is a floating cut-out mouth in the middle of the screen. I can't believe I missed that. Damn all those layers. I wonder how many people noticed it at AWA. I suppose I should thank Kwasek twice at the end now, for pointing it out :) Anyway, once I get around to fixing it I'll post the video online.
I finally got a chance to watch the UK show that I was a part of. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, except for the fact that I paid expensive air mail to ship high quality copies of Bachelorette, With Every Light, Dreams Come True, etc. to England, and they ended up using MPEG-1 copies of old videos like Ugly Girl and Gunsmith PI. Ah well, I hate seeing myself on camera. - 2002-09-30 17:33:16 Sigh. I just went out, bought dinner, and brought it back to the office. It's been a long day, and it'll be a long evening. I'm still on a high from AWA, but this place is slowly killing it >_<

I just found out that while I was having fun at AWA on Friday, there was a large wave of layoffs throughout my company. One guy two cubes over from me in my department started here around the same time as me, and he was "affected" by the layoffs, as my boss worded it...

For some reason, I can't access my server to take the old videos offline and put the new ones (Self-Titled and Sappy Self-Indulgence) online. But the old videos are still somehow downloadable. Argh. I was hoping to get the new ones online by tomorrow. Rats. -

Goddamn. AWA's so fun every year I can never imagine the next AWA being better. But this year STILL somehow managed to be the best ever! SOO many people, I felt like a social butterfly for the first time in my life.
So much happened, all I can do is point out high/lowlights:
Thursday:
- 2 hour plane delay. Way to start off the weekend!
- Being welcomed into the VAT with a "Sig Heil!" from Brad DeMoss.
- NINJA WATER AND MOUTHWASH.
- Quadruple-fisting 4 different types of booze...then getting sick of holding 4 cups and pouring them all into a single cup.
- Puking on paizuri's toothbrush in the bathroom. WOOHOO!
Friday:
- Totally unexpected response for my expo videos at my panel with EK.
- Um...panel with EK ^_^ Thanks for sticking around, everyone, even after we admitted we had nothing left to show.
- MTT, Absolute Destiny, jescaflowne and paizuri's doomed liquor run.
- ANTS. Poor Nightowl.
- Punch.
- DDR2!! The debut of the project was amazing...I had no idea the crowd would be so hyped for it. And there was a good amount of dancing this year! Vlad and Machine certainly had their hands full with the filming. And the project itself blew me away. Great work, everyone!
- Large gathering of AMVers huddled at a table outside of the VAT late at night. Let's see who I can remember being there -- MTT, paizuri, Vlad, Tim Park, ErMaC, Machine, Hakura, Aluminum, gambitt, Nightowl, Nanashi, AD, Senta, RYS, Maboroshi, and I'm sure I missed a bunch of people.
- Puking. Again. 2 for 2!
Saturday:
- Waking up deliciously late and fully rested.
- MTT panel! Go Cucumber.
- Packing an overpriced deli sandwich into my bag in case I didn't get a chance to eat before Iron Chef. It sure came in handy, as I devoured it during the AMV awards ceremony.
- Congrats to all Expo/Pro/Masters winners!
- Being lent Pro contest-winner Nightowl's bunny ears for AMV editing power.
- The man who first introduced me to anime over 6 years ago made a surprise appearance right before the Iron Chef competition. He was struck by a drunk driver about 5 years ago, and has been in a wheelchair ever since...I was completely blindsided when his father appeared out of nowhere and told me that they had come to AWA to see me.
- Wringing my hands and jittering with anxiety before Iron Chef. Neither a cigarette or a drink helped to calm me down.
- Punch.
- Iron Chef! I actually had sort of an idea of what I was doing this year, and the white dragon in Spirited Away was a COMPLETELY unexpected gift from the heavens. As I scrubbed through the very first random clip I pulled into my source window, I did a double-take and nearly exclaimed, "HOLY SHIT, IT'S FALCOR!!" Props to Joe for putting up a hell of a fight. Next year: British Invasion ^_^
- Biggest AMV party ever.
- Smoking on the party patio with Nightowl and a pajama-clad voice actor. I think her name was Monica.
- Chilling with StudioKZ, Nightowl, some MTTers, and paizuri in the Duke booze suite.
- A HUGE fucking angry mob trying to pound down the door of the Duke booze suite in hopes of getting our friend Gwyneth to flash them. Dumbasses.
- More of the biggest AMV party ever.
- Moving the biggest AMV party ever down to the party patio.
- Drinking a LOT. And somehow not getting drunk OR sick.
- THE craziest thing I have ever seen at a con: a girl pulling her shirt up and having her breasts ("Boobies," for Kwasek) fondled/sucked on by random guys standing around her o_0 o_0
- The hour that does not exist. Fatboy Slim is fucking in heaven. *twitch*
- Staying up waaay too goddamn late chatting with jescaflowne and paizuri back in the room.
Sunday:
- Lunch with half of MTT, paizuri, and jescaflowne at -- surprise, surprise, Ruby Tuesdays!
- Tearful farewell to everyone ;_; And a stupid shuttle/cab fiasco.
Anyway, I had an absolut3ly amazing time this year. A shout-out to everyone I met and hung out with this weekend. I will now try to remember them ALLLLL:
No wait, nevermind, there are too many. Just a very very few off the top of my head that I spent a lot of time with:
MTT - You are the coolest people ever.
Nightowl - Okay, you too. Anime USA, here we come!
AbsoluteDestiny - Damnit, you too.
jescaflowne - Argh, the pattern continues.
I guess it turns out that just about everyone I hung out with at AWA was fucking cool. Except paizuri ;)
I'm definitely going to write more later. There's too much I'm missing, and too many people I've left out of this entry.
