I always wanted to do one of these, I don't know why I haven't gotten to it earlier. I guess since I've finally, or at least I think I am, getting serious about my first video, I should try and do the journal thing too.
Basically its gonna be...um, eh, who knows. I've been working through clips of Boogiepop Phantom, and working with the song Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with me by Fantomas. There's a hell of a lot I'd like to do with this video, but I'm just not a good enough editor yet to pull of some of my ideas without it looking pretty ugly. But hey, I have to start somewhere.
If anything, the lack of editing skill will hopefully be made up for in part with a good theme. I've been working over a few different ideas in my head, scrapping them, getting new ones, scrapping those, throwing a little in of part a and b etc. Honestly the whole thing has been a good time so far, and I've only got a about 25 seconds of footage that might actually stick in the final version of the video. I feel like such a new jack and a tool, but it's kinda exciting. I've made music videos for my band, and friends bands...but this is much more fun.
I'm not sure if I do finish it, if I would ever put it out. I really don't dig some of the hostility, and the ignorance that is in the amv community. I don't usually care about this stuff, I'm usually the type of person that just says "fuck them" and does whatever I feel like. I've never had a problem releasing my writing out to other people, or screaming my head off in bands, but this for some reason just feels different. I guess it's just lack of conifidence.
Anywho, it is technically holloween right now, and I'm pretty freaking pumped. I live in a duplex with a bunch of housemates, and our nextdoor neighbor is having a costume party of hiroshima/nagasaki proportions. These kids love the best rock n roll around too, so it'll actually be a college party with kicking back ground music. Nothing like a halloween party with good looking girls, funny kids, good drinks, and the murder city devils blasting. As for the costume, it's totally in the air. The general consensus is "slutty nurse" My skinny hairy legs are gonna look gruesome coming out of that skirt, but the fake rack my friend alison picked up for me is pretty hot. The whole drag thing is pretty passe though, and everyone else is like "oh you have black glasses and long hair...be harry potter!" As much as I actually do love the Harry Potter books in a guilty pleasure way, that just will not happen. I'm gonna head over to the costume store with a bunch of friends tomorrow, and if I can get the right wig...then Axl Rose 1986 is so on. I've been waiting to do a sick Axl Rose costume for years, but I can never find the right things. Axl wouldn't stand for someone doing a bad send up of him, he'd come down here and take me out.
But first I have to take an in class essay for african american literature. This professor, just hates the way I write. I do one thing in 2 other classes and get A's, do it in this class, get a B-. It's just one of those things that feels like a lose lose situation. Speaking of lose, my fantasy basketball team huffs. I've rambled on long enough, (I'm new to this, bear with me) time to eat some pizza.
