Four hundred twenty first entry - morning quickie
2008-03-31 08:46:44
Time - 8:30, Noise - my roomie's fan
Last week was so boring. I didn't have my Japanese class, meaning that my schedule has been incredibly free. It's only an hour out of each day, but removing it from my day means I have a huge break in between classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I only have my one-hour French class on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Furthermore, Japanese is pretty much the only class I have to try in. I've said a million times that French is sadly easy, with homework taking me a whopping five to ten minutes - MAYBE fifteen if there's a lot of writing. My women's psychology class isn't much better. Sure, I don't do that great on the tests, but that's because I don't read the book and have discovered that reading it doesn't improve my grade anyway. I do fantastic on everything else we do, so why worry? Japanese is the only thing that I really take the time to study for.
This week is the same. Worse, actually. I have NO classes on Wednesday, due to a "Distinguished Lecturer" which, by the honor system, we are all supposed to diligently attend and listen to. Quite frankly, I don't give a damn about a lecturer with the title "Coach" in front of his name, so as that wipes out my French class, and I don't have Japanese THIS week either, it's a totally empty day - which I will then finish off with an evening program about relaxation.
Because this week will stress me SO bad, you know. >_>
Anyway, I'm going over my alloted time for morning entries, so I'll be off to French now.
See ya, folks.

Four hundred twentieth entry - woes

I'm really kind of pissed right now. I'm not mad at anyone in particular, so don't think that I'm getting on anyone's case. It's just... despite my insane planning, despite the clear cut rules and deadlines, despite the fact that I addressed nearly every problem as it came up if not BEFORE it came up... I think FMV2 is going down the "generic MEP" road.
People have just gotten in a habit where they get all excited about a project and then when the slightest inconvenience pops up - boom! - they drop it. I put so many warnings in the main post about being committed, about being dedicated, about only joining if you knew you wouldn't drop... and what do I get? Tracks freeing themselves up left and right. That's just being disrespectful to me.
Fine, so people have lives outside of the .org. That's what you were going to say, right? Well, why do you think I put all those warnings up? It was to save busy people the trouble of joining and dropping, and to save ME the trouble of finding as many replacement editors down the road.
There are five tracks open now. I don't even know where I'm going to find five more editors. *head-in-hands moment*
On that note, my roommate has decided to go to bed way earlier than normal (the bitch...), so I need to go now.
See you, folks.

Four hundred nineteenth entry - long time no see

Why, hello there, journal! Haven't spent any quality time with you in a while, have I? It's been damn near a month. Ah, but if only my life were worth writing about, I might make entries more frequently. (lawlz)
I came up with an idea for a live action video. I was just listening to a song recently, and it occurred to me that the lyrics and style of the song would be great for a couple of movies I've seen - and surprise, surprise... I actually own these movies! Yeah, that's a rarity for me. Lots of videogames means I don't buy much anime or many movies. So like... I could totally make this video. I think that may be what I do after my ACen video... speaking of which, I should work on that today. I don't have much time left before the deadline (a month isn't much time for me).
It's Spring Break for me right now. Of course, this means little more than going home and hiding in my house for a week. (I've never been on a vacation before - why start now?) This gives me time to work on my video, re-record my Fatal Frame II speedrun and just generally catch up on things. My kittens got bigger. Tenkai isn't such a tiny thing anymore, but he'll always be dainty. Soki is a huge furry lover; he's gotta be at least twelve pounds now. I suspect he's done or almost done growing now, since he's nearly a year old. We decided to let him share my Mom's birthday, since we know his is in April, but we don't know the exact date. Mom's is the seventeenth, so we figured that would be a good day. Halfway through the month, y'know? Anyway, the kittens are good, and my mother and brother are doing as well as can be expected.
Jonathan bought a Wii and Mom picked up the Lego Star Wars dual pack. Of course, she forgot to buy a memory card, so the game does her little good. Personally, I have little interest in a Wii. I don't think I'll ever like the way it controls, because I feel like way too many games are trying to force a way to make the nunchuck and motion work for various functions. I mean, seriously. That would be like me trying to play Tomb Raider on the PC. Other people may like it, but for me, it's just incredibly ungainly. Why use a keyboard and mouse with more surface area to cross when I can use a small controller much more easily? Similarly, why flick a nunchuck to make Lara roll when I could much more easily press circle and do the same damn thing?
It doesn't matter, though, since I more or less have to switch to PC gaming anyway. I don't want any of the next gen consoles, because of price, controls, or just a general lack of games that I'd want to play. If I'm not willing to upgrade to a new console, what AM I willing to upgrade? My computer, of course. So PC gaming it is.
Gonna try to get a slew of betas done tomorrow for FMV2 - that's when my mom and sibling have their day off from work, so I won't be inclined to leave my computer, most likely.
Nothing else to talk about, so I'm-a go now.
See you, folks.

Four hundred eighteenth entry - ow... ;_;

*cringes*
Ow... I hurt all over. ;_; I was walking to class yesterday and it was icy as hell. The whole sidewalk was covered by (literally) two inches or more of ice. I had a few little slips, but managed to stay on my feet the whole way - that is, until I crossed the road. Halfway across, and that's when it happened.
I facefaulted. Right down to my stomach, and I just barely caught myself with my hands before my face whacked the ground. Luckily, no cars were coming, and it was freezing cold enough out there that I was able to cross the street, stop by a garbage can and still brush myself off before any of the snow had time to melt on me. My gloves got a little wet, and my headphones got wet because I was touching them with the gloves, but it was nothing major. However, I managed to whack the area just below my left knee really good. It hurt like hell the whole day, and I could feel a little pain in my other limbs as the day wore on.
Well, I woke up this morning and everything aches. The left leg is still the most sensitive, but my right arm is pretty bad, too. Annoying, cuz I'm right-handed, but I'll live. At least nothing's broken or sprained. I took some painkillers this morning (what's basically the equivalent to three-and-a-half pills of Tylenol), but it didn't help much. I'm not gonna bother taking any tomorrow if this is all they're going to do. Waste of my pills. : /
Anyway, today was no fun physically, as you might imagine. I did get a decent hot coffee drink this morning, and I think I did okay on my lesson quiz in Japanese. Oh, oh, and I got a 98% on my French test. w00t w00t. I made a couple of small accent-related mistakes and messed up the answer to two or so questions, but I did really well otherwise. Let's all cheer for Ulty now.
Gonna watch some betas and try to get in touch with Crackerz tonight to discuss them. Hm, and I guess I also have to put together information about the Seville trip next semester. My grandpa requested it, and since I haven't really written him yet, I should do that soon.
Spain is less than a year away. Scary. o.o;;
See you, folks.

Four hundred seventeenth entry - awards and deadlines
2008-02-18 15:09:49
Time - 12:36, Noise - my roommate's laughter
Aw, VCAs are kinda... questionable. I don't mind what was voted up, as I do believe those videos deserve it. It's just... so much repetition. I feel like I can practically choose one editor, go down each and every category, and manage to find that editor in all of them. No variety. Then again, they never DO have any variety, I guess. Too bad.
FMV wasn't in the MEP category, but I didn't expect it to be. Even if it was blindly awesomely edited, the thing is that a good chunk of the .org is not only averse to gaming, but they don't believe Japanese games are anime. That's two strikes against it right there. I mean, everyone is here for anime (and music). Only some people are here for games. So yeah. I didn't expect FMV to place, and I don't expect FMV2 will either.
Speaking of FMV2, there are now five spots open because of a drop today. If you're interested in joining, please do so here:
http://www.animemusicvideos.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=85211
Also, don't forget about betas being due on March 1st, participants. I'll send a warning one week before the deadline so everyone's aware of what's going on. For those of you that already sent me a beta, thanks. You're in the safe zone 'til the second beta deadline now. Oh, and I did respond to the two who sent me something half a month back. Sorry for being so lazy about it. I have two betas from two others as well, but Crackerz and I have not discussed them. I'll try to get to that soon.
Haven't made any progress on my video lately, although I must have opened Magix half a dozen times now. I just haven't been able to concentrate on it. I've been doing a lot of homework, actually, which I suppose is a good thing. Speaking of which, I need to study kanji tonight. I'm still not sure how to do that other than just copying them all down a bajillion times, but I guess I'll try that.
Anyway, I don't have much else to write about.
See you, folks.
