Four hundred eighty fourth entry - Fuck CRTs
2011-12-05 16:00:03
Time - 2:33, Noise - hum of the compy
FFFFFFFUUUUUU-
I hate this monitor. I have it at the highest resolution that my eyes can stand to look at and I'm still having issues with AMVs being too large for display. I miss my widescreen. I MISS MY LAPTOP.
Also, I made a new YouTube channel. It's called SakuraSamaelLetsPlay, and it will be for Let's Plays of mostly Tomb Raider Level Editor custom levels. I will take suggestions for levels, and I may also add in LPs for other games. There's nothing in the channel yet, as I haven't uploaded the overview video. I have to reinstall my editing program first.
I don't know how much traffic it'll get, but it's something to do.
See you, folks.

Four hundred eighty third entry - An Ally Falls

Time - 5:23, Noise - Bayonetta OST - "You May Call Me Father"
So my laptop is dead. Just like that. The screen randomly sputtered out the other day. I did a bit of research, only to find that the sole solution would be to replace the video card - something I'd have done a few years ago if it had been possible, but my model is old and incompatible with everything but two or so cards that aren't made anymore.
The good news? I could still start it in Safe Mode, so I kicked everything over to the external hard drive and now it's just a matter of re-installing it all on the desktop - which happens to be the other bit of good news. I DO have another computer to use, although it's kind of... "special," shall we say. Special needs, more like. It'll do the job, though, and in some ways, it is actually better than my laptop, since I can actually play PC games on this one. Before the overheating issues, the lappy actually played games better than this one, but once the issues kicked in, I couldn't play anything on it.
It's not the loss of the machine that bugs me, or even the monumental re-installation ahead of me. It's the little things, like the lack of a widescreen monitor (still using a CRT beast on this one), or even just little volume control buttons up front. Or a convenient USB port, or headphone access. Or a slot for a digital camera's memory card.
The real bummer is that the laptop was a gift from my brother, and he still has most of the balance to pay off. Of course, he should have had that done forever ago, so that's on him, but it's still irritating. Breaking the news to him will suck.
Also, I miss the laptop's keyboard. That thing was as smooth as butter, as opposed to this old, typo-prone piece of crap.
Farewell, sweet International Computational Device. You served me well over the years, across the ocean, through college, for always. Even when you failed not once, but twice, and became Jennifer's Fireball of Doom, I still loved you. Time to close your lid for the last time. Sleep well, Lappy.
See you, folks.

Four hundred eighty second entry - but of course
2011-11-07 14:42:42
Time - 1:33, Noise - Enigma - "Gravity of Love" (eff yeah, baby)
@Code
I do. At 8556 downloads, I still take the time to judge everything fairly. Well, most everything. I won't lie. I have had an instance or two where I just wanted to clear out my stars, but like I said... 8556 downloads. I think I'm doing pretty good on patience, generally speaking.
Of course, it ends up not mattering a whole lot anyway, because when it comes down it, the majority of videos get between 2 and 4 (more on the lower end), and when you look at things like average star ratings - let's say in a list in the Super Search - nearly everything comes up between 3.0 and 3.5. Additionally, the more obscure a source, the more skewed the scores become, because usually only hardcore fans are looking for it, and they tend to score what little they can find abnormally high. It goes the opposite direction for extremely popular sources.
I truly, honestly do not pay much attention to star ratings, even though I do my best to give them fairly. They end up being useless in the end. I just get whatever video looks interesting to me (always if I know the video source) and ignore the scores.
Anyway, that was long.
See you, folk(s).
