JOURNAL: Taleron (Taleron )

  • Squee! 2002-07-27 13:24:08 Yeesh, I haven't posted in here in a long while. Dun really need to, since there hasn't really been any news worth putting here. But there is now!

I got my new PC up and running. Athlon XP 1800+, 512 PC2100 DDRAM, a video card that can output to a VCR.. *snrk* She runs beautifully. Need to get some more hard drives to use the motherboard's onboard RAID - which only has modes 0 and 1, but I just want mode 0 anyway, for speed factors. Important data's going to be stored in the 100GB secondary drive when I get it, which should be sooner rather than later. Until then, though, I'll have to make do with what I got.

In my struggle for perfection, I've probably ripped and encoded the first Trigun DVD a half dozen times. For some reason, Premiere is just fine when I stick the first DivX file innit, but when trying to import the second DVD's DivX file, either before or after the first, it just craps out. I dunno what the problem is, they've both got the same settings. So, I'm just running the vids through TMPEG and Xing at various settings. Wee, kinda.

Anyway. I should be making videos again soon. I tried a little while ago, and it was quite evident that my AMV hiatus to get myself back into music helped out a lot. The only problem is that I can now notice beats and timing places that most people miss. It should be interesting to see how my first comeback video does.

Also, at that time, I'll be using a new studio name - Wingwolf. As this is kind of a comeback, rebirth, whatever, I've decided that it would be a good thing to remake myself. So that'll be fun, too.

Only problem is, I still need to find a server. Rahr. But I've got time to worry about that later.
  • Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. 2002-01-26 02:56:57 God dammit.

So that's that. The server that I had my videos loaded on is toast. So, well, I'm screwed. Somehow, somewhere, I have to find a server that'll let me shove that much data through their pipes, and for free. It ain't happening. And I can't really afford to pay anyone for anything, and I'm not going to some overtrafficked lame-ass site.

So, if anyone wants a video of mine, guess you're gonna have to look on Gnotella, Morpheus, iMesh, whatever. Either that or email me to find me on IRC (unless you're lucky enough to find me in #AnimeMusicVideos on DALnet, but that's not my usual server group). Amazing how much my videos are downloaded, yet no one wants to take that little bit of effort to get a video direct from me. *shrug* Guess I'm not that important.

Anyway, thought of a new video. That makes #38 on my to-do list. But I'm being hush-hush about it, I don't want it getting stolen, tee hee.

Fnoo. I need to find a good server now. I can't get one running myself. Damn. >.<

  • WOOT! 2001-11-29 19:37:32 Ah, this is kickass. I got Windows XP Professional! Is nice. Still getting used to things, and the ONLY bad feature I can find right now is that MSN Messenger CANNOT be taken off. Or at least, I haven't figured out how to get rid of it. Of course, that's not a low point for MSN Messenger users, but I detest it. Ah, whatever.

Oh yes, note to everyone: Adobe Premier 6.0 DOES work in WinXP. Just in case anyone's hovering with that question. :)

  • Woo, more repetoire. 2001-11-27 00:03:59 Yay fun. Over Thanksgiving break, I got some new anime. Finally bought Kite. Very short, sudden ending, sad. Very good. I also got the first two DVDs of Martian Successor Nadesico, too. Only got through the first DVD, four episodes, but I laughed my ass off even more than the first time I watched the first episode of Trigun. I'll have to do a couple videos after I finish with Trigun and Cowboy Bebop.

    Woob. Fun.
  • My god. -.- 2001-11-15 18:40:04 Okay, so, let's see. I'm perusing the site, looking for something interesting to download. Now, I'll be up front. I HATE Dragonball Z. I'll stop there. But what I also hate is this angsty crap I hear on the radio 24/7. If ANY ONE of you is offended by this, go away. This is my journal, I'm gonna rant.

I wonder if anyone firstly remembers hair bands in the 80's. I secondly wonder if anyone realizes that it looks awfully familiar to what's happening now. I can't tell what I hate more; the angst, the teeny-boppers, the bubblegum, or the rap and hip-hop. I don't listen to the new music radio stations anymore, mainly because I'm disgusted to the point of puking. Shit, I turned on CELINE DION at work because "Crawling" came on. I would rather listen to my 6th grade math teacher's fingernails scraping the chalkboard 100,000 times than listen to that god forsaken lump of refuse again.

Now, now. There was a time when I liked part of the music. Limp Bizkit, KoRn, Rammstein...they were cool, because they were different. I can't listen to them anymore, because around the time 3 Doors Down's "Loser" came out, that title pretty much summed up how I felt about every single current artist I heard on the radio. Even now it seems like every damn guy who can stick the head of a microphone in his mouth (or up his ass, I can't tell, they're both about as hairless and scraggly) and scream like a frigging village idiot who hasn't been committed to the loony bin can get a record deal.

Let's see, ooh! Hip Hop and Rap! How quaint. As long as you say "muthafucka" more than 2 dozen times and threaten to kill someone, you're officially "pimp". Wow. I curse worse than that every day, how come Universal hasn't picked my ass up?

And don't TELL me that these songs have soul. Shit, even "Soul" music has no soul. It's some lame-ass hardbodied jerk crooning about how he loves you so muuuuch. Of course, the only reason most of them are crooning is because they can't sustain a note for more than a few seconds. The last good soul song I heard was Tracy Chapman's "Give Me One Reason".

What's next...ah yes, teeny-boppers. I'll give Britney Spears a LITTLE credit. She's matured quite a bit from "Oops, I Did it Again" to "Slave 4 You". The Backstreet Boys at least get along with their fans. N'Sync and Christina Bimbo-lera and all those other freaks are another story. Fact is, the only song of all of these I like is "Larger Than Life", and you know why? Because I love Aluminum Studios' Cowboy Bebop video with that song, and that's it.

I've been listening to radio since the day I was born, in all honesty. The record business right now is all corporate. None of this has any heart, any soul. It's pathetic.

And for those of you who would say I don't know music, I can sing. I participated in All-State Honors Chorus, the highest honor in the state, for two of two years. I sang with some wonderful people, most of whom actually shared these sentiments with me. I've been selected best in my class all four years in high school chorus class, and that's from a selection of 100 students. So don't tell me I don't know music. I've listened, played, and sang music for a long time, and I've met a lot of beautiful singers and participated in a lot of choirs. Those people I sang with, THOSE are the real musicians.

    Anyone can scream.
It takes talent to sing a scale on key.
