  • out there you will go and there you will fight 2004-09-30 01:20:15 It seems that humans worship the battle. Not necessarily war, but we desire to see competitors duke it out on the court, field, or rink. It makes it all the more fun when the playing field is even and no one organization can out-pay the competition. The salary cap for US football has created a monster.

I used to watch it in the old days before the cap and it was somewhat boring. Your team never seemed to stand a chance if they weren't the Cowboys, 49'ers, Giants, or Broncos. Now, anyone can be a star it would seem. With the even playing field, the teams now must play harder to win each game. There is rarely a game where you will know that you will win or know that you will lose before it has begun. The players have been pushed harder, fans are more critical, and the popularity of football has skyrocketed. Now when two teams march on to the field, they seem to be marching on a battlefield rather than a playing field. Epical confrontations, like between Manning and Farve, get even old players like Cris Collinsworth, Troy Aikman, and John Madden excited before and after the game. Teams that were invisible one year become the next year's losing puzzlement. Then there are the injuries.

Inside the NFL mentioned that overall injuries are up 35% of the normal average over the past 6 years. Starting player injuries are up 75% in comparison with the past 6 years. This seems ridiculous, but it's all the most astounding when you watch the games. One literally witnesses players falling down (and not getting back up) left and right. Multiple teams have lost their generals (quarterbacks) already and the season's barely started. Reserves have to be immediately called up to cover a third receiver and old 40-year old vets are called in to fill in the gaps in the line. It's literally a war, with actual casualties. Hell, the injury list should just be called the casualty list now. There would even be a list for MIA personell for people such as Ricky Williams. During the second week I even witnessed dissent turn to mutiny.

The Dolphins / Bengels game was one of the hardest games I've ever watched. It was ugly football. Both teams have exceptional defenses even with all their injuries. Their offenses were definately lacking leadership since both quarterbacks were new. However, Feeley had a bit more trouble than the Bengel's QB. Feeley's line literally let the defense through for the entire first half of the game. It was the most obvious show of revolt on a team I've ever seen. At one point in time, Feeley went to hand off the ball and the defensive tackle nearly got there before the running back did. By the end of the first half Feeley was still walking, yet he had been hit from every direction and was bleeding from his chin. Perhaps the defensive coach threatened to fire them, but the offensive line finally started blocking in the second half and Feeley was able to mount a comeback of sorts. The Dolphins nearly won too and won wonders if they could've if they'd all been on the same page from the start. No matter; Both teams will have trouble making the playoffs as it is.

For now, it would seem the final four will be comprimised of the Colts, the Pats, the Seahawks, and the Eagles. That's how it appears for now, but after 13 more grueling grudge matches, the Super Bowl could be up for grabs.

  • lovely... 2004-03-28 05:19:47 That's all i could think of when I heard the song "Friends" by Yoko Kanno just a bit after watching episodes 9-11 of Maria-sama ga Miteru. The relationships in that anime are potrayed to such extent and with such a unique clarity that while listening to the song "Friends" I yearned to portray those relationships as well. I felt as though I was dancing while watching the images in my mind. Perhaps, I shall make an AMV.

My first AMV creation attempt with adobe software did not go as I had planned. I was unable to edit the video as I had wanted. Perhaps I'll be able to overcome it this time.
  • banners and vanity 2004-01-21 23:32:26 I wonder why these "REVIEW MY ANIME NOW!!!" banners are so popular. It makes one think that these people create AMVs only so that they can be reviewed. If someone wants to review an AMV, they will, but it takes time to make a good review. Some of the reviews I've made have taken over two hours. Although that's little in comparison to how long it took to make the video, I don't think that's a comparison that needs to even be argued. People review either out of thier own nice nature or because they want to. "Yelling" at members with these banners is both uncurteous and vain.
