Nothing this week.......
2004-09-30 13:45:28
I've got major work projects this week and I'm putting in some longer days to get them done. There's nothing to report, but I wanted to at least make an entry for the week. Later.

Old projects re-newed.........
2004-09-21 17:01:57
I'm able to get into all of my old projects from Pinnacle now and I'm going to start grabbing the time-codes so I can rebuild those projects in Premiere. I haven't had time to do more than just see if they open and look at what I had done. I'll be busy the next couple weeks while I wrap up my goals for Q3 at work -- which means some late nights.
Once that's over though, I should have some free time again and I'm excited about getting in, getting the time codes and starting to rebuild the projects in a better tool (and with better footage). Gotta go for now. Later.

This is a great week..........

I was working on burning a DVD of two of my good friends weddings from August and was having trouble with Pinnacle Studio again. I decided to risk downloading the latest patch since the software already ruined most of my AMV projects I worked on while using that program (and I couldn't get it to burn the DVD of wedding footage).
I downloaded the latest update and installed it. The DVD burning section worked, but crashed (one step further than before) it couldn't even get into that section without crashing my computer before the update. Anyway, Pinnacle seemed a little more stable and I thought, "what the heck" I'll try to open one of my old projects.
You can imagine my surprise and enjoyment when it actually opened the project. The audio wouldn't work for some reason, but who cares. I can now grab the time codes from that project and re-make it in Premiere using better video quality. I may be able to actually get my second AMV finished and uploaded before Christmas (and in good quality). ;)
Of course, now I need to figure out what I'm doing wrong with the DVD ripping process in the AMV guides. Everything seems to work fine, but when I try to pull the file into Premiere, it is just diagonal lines that look like the video skewed. Well, I'll have to worry about it this weekend -- for now, it's back to work. Oh happy day. Oh happy day. Later.

Went out of town for the weekend.........
2004-09-07 09:04:15
We went out of town for the weekend, so I didn't work on any AMV stuff. We are headed out of town again this coming weekend, so I won't get back to AMV stuff for at least a week.
When I do get back to it, I'm going to go through the DVD ripping guides again and check Premiere sites online to see if there's something I missed. I've really been thinking about going back and re-doing my first AMV with better ripped footage and maybe adding new footage because I have more DVDs now. Maybe I'll do an updated version, or a version two.
For now, I gotta get back to work. Later.

I can't believe it............
2004-08-30 10:54:48
I actually did AMV related stuff over the weekend! :)
I went through the AMV.org guides on ripping quality video from DVDs, but it didn't seem to work. I followed all the steps and used the same programs, but when I try to import the video to Premiere Pro it looks garbled (like an old TV that needs to be tuned to the station). There are diagonal lines (that appear to be the video image) on a black background.
Maybe I'll figure that out next time I sit down and play with it. The VOB files play fine on their own, so I'm wondering if one of the various programs I have has installed a conflicting CODEC or something. Well, I better get back to work. Later.
