Watching a new series or two............
2004-05-03 09:09:04
My wife and I have been relaxing and recovering from the birthing process, so I borrowed some anime DVDs and bought some more for us to watch. Since we've been watching some new stuff, I've been watching anime instead of working on my AMVs. Oh well.
We borrowed the first five Love Hina DVDs and the Love Hina Spring Movie DVD. It's a pretty funny series. My wife enjoys it too so that's good. It reminds me of KOR and Maison Ikkoku, only a little more modern. It has a lot of the same type themes and humor.
I bought the first 2 Noir DVDs used - that's the way to go (half the regular price and in great condition). We watched the first one and it's pretty interesting. The artwork is good and the plot is decent. We will probably watch the other DVD this week. If we like it, that may be the next series I start collecting.
Well, that's all for now. I'm hoping to find time to work on the Macross Plus AMV some more this week, but I don't know. I've got some home improvement projects to do this week too. My dad's coming in to town to help me with some of it, so I'm not sure how much video editing I'll actually get done. Plus all our friends are wanting to come see the baby, so it may be a week or two before I get back to editing. Later.

Some time is better than none........
2004-04-30 00:23:07
I'm a dad now - officially - and it's great. My new daughter is so beautiful, of course I'm biased, but everyone keeps telling us she is, so she must be (or they're all lying). My wife and I are learning to adjust to having the new addition at home. I can't wait to watch her grow-up. I just hope I don't blink.
I worked on my Macross Plus AMV a little yesterday and looked at my Hakkenden AMV again. I feel good that I at least did that. I haven't had a lot of spare time lately and being able to do just that little bit was great. I'll be juggling quite a bit now, but life is good.
Later,

Tomorrow is the big day.........
2004-04-21 13:02:11
They are going to induce my wife tomorrow. So, I'll be a father by this weekend. That means that I might have a little free time early next week. Since I'm taking a few days off work and all. We'll have to wait and see how that plays out.
If things work the way I hope I should be able to work on my one AMV a little. Hey, every little bit helps. I should have an actual AMV update next week. Keep your fingers crossed. If only real life was more like an anime. ;)

Almost time to be a dad...........
2004-04-15 11:09:50
The Dr. said that anytime now the baby could come. We are busy getting everything as ready as we can. We're excited about it. The only drawback is that I've had no time to even look at my AMV projects. As soon as the baby comes, I'll take off a few days of work and I'll probably have a little downtime here and there to at least look at it and keep it fresh in my mind. I'm keeping up with my journal though - I can't let it slide. That's all for now - later.

Still caught up in real life.......
2004-04-08 08:27:58
Unfortunately, real life is butting in on my AMV time. That's what happens when you are about to become a first-time father though. I'm really excited about being a dad and it's something that AMVs can't begin to compare to. I'm not going to abandon AMV completely, it just has to take a back seat, for now, to more important things.
I am committed to completing at least one, maybe two more videos before Memorial Day. I have several projects already under way and I'm pretty sure one is going to happen - if I can just find the time to do it. It's one that was actually finished except for some last minute tweaks and Pinnacle corrupted the project file. I'm so frustrated with that. I know most of what was in it, but there is about 60 seconds or so that I changed in the final version and I can't remember exactly what I did. I won't ever spend any money on Pinnacle software in the future - that's for sure.
I'm rebuilding the project in Premiere and it is so much nicer and more powerful. There is some learning curve, but it seems worth it so far. I've only had Premiere crash a few times total. Pinnacle crashed more times in one day than that. I also haven't had the project file corruption issues I had with Pinnacle. I think I'm going to be dropping the dough on Premiere, but maybe I'll ebay it to save some money initially. I don't know. It all depends on how much money this baby sucks up. :)
