No new news...........

Nothing new to report really - just keeping up with my journal at least once a week, like I said I would. Too many personal life things to take care of this week - getting ready for your first child is a never-ending project. So, I haven't advanced any of my projects since last entry.
I did, however, rip the entire Cowboy Bebop Series of DVDs over the weekend. I have the decrypted VOBs on my hard drive now and can start playing around with the footage for a future project. I need to delete some of the transition files for my other projects to free up hard drive space. I now have the entire Hakkenden Series, the entire Cowboy Bebop Series & Movie, the entire Macross Plus Series and several Rurouni Kenshin Episodes on my hard drive. I also have several AVI and other versions floating around on there (plus project files and the likes).
I need to go do some cleanup (and get another hard drive). ;) Well, gotta go. Later.

I have made my first pledge and first donation to the site. I'm now vested. I'm hooked. I'm here to stay for a while. I think it's well worth it. I've gotten more than my moneys worth out of all the videos I've seen and all the inspiration I've received to form a new hobby for myself. Thanks to everyone doing there thing on here. I wish I could devote more to the site, but with my first child on the way in about one month, I have to keep a close watch on where/how I spend money.
Also, I came up with a script idea over the weekend for an original anime series. I'm going to consult my old roommate, and close friend, to see what he thinks and if he's interested in doing some initial artwork for it for me. I will try to work up an initial story with rough sketches, and go from there. Who knows, maybe with some hard work and devotion to the project people will be making AMVs with my anime some day. OK OK, let me dream a little. ;)

Next on the block...........

Now that my first AMV is up, the next project that will be finished is the first of my current Macross Plus AMVs. It is the one that was already basically finished and I'm having to rebuild. I've gotten the easy part finished, the first 60-90 seconds. I'm now working on remembering what I had done exactly for the rest of it. I have an earlier version that is helping a little with the timings, but I'm still weeks away from the finished product. The second Macross Plus video I was working on is completely lost. I will have to start from scratch on it - I'll probably pick it back up in the summer.
After the Macross Plus video, I will continue working on my Hakkenden video. That one has the first 45 seconds completed and I'm hoping to complete it before Memorial Day. I'm working on finding the footage for the next few sections, but it's a slow process since I'm not sure exactly where in the series it is (I do know it is in the latter half though).
After my Hakkenden project, I have a Cowboy Bebop project lined up and then I'll return to the Kenshin realm, I think. That is of course, unless something else comes up more interesting in the meantime. I have a couple Kenshin ideas that I've been noodling on. Plus, I have a couple more Macross Plus ideas that have been turning in my head as well. I have a great idea for a banner on AMV too that I will submit once I get an opportunity to build it.
I hope more people check out my first AMV and give me feedback. Last time I checked, I only had one OP and 20+ stars (100+ hits). The good news is that my average star rating is 3 - could be better, but could be a lot worse. I just hope I get more feedback on what's done well and what needs work. Finally finished a project.......................

I finished my first AMV and uploaded it. It isn't the greatest, but it's done - as done as it's going to be. I need to move on to other projects. I could sit and tweak it and try to make it perfect forever. I need to get it up, get some feedback and get better at this AMV thing.
I was able to recover most of this project's work, since I had saved it under multiple versions while working on it. I made a few last minute tweaks and decided to leave it be for fear of never finishing. I uploaded it and the rest is history now.
I lost the almost-final version of my second AMV. So, I'm having to rebuild much of it from an earlier version. Stupid Pinnacle software! The biggest pain in the neck part of that is that I had the two versions and I made some major changes that got lost. Now the two versions are bleeding together in my mind and I'm trying to remember which was which as I'm rebuilding it. Maybe I can finish that one up soon too.
Well, it's late....er, early. ;) I'm off to get some sleep. Later.

I worked some more on my current projects. They are coming along, but I need to go back and finish polishing off my first AMV. It probably would be good to at least finish one. My first one is mostly done, but I'm just not happy with the ending section. I'll finish it before summer is here - I hope. ;)
I had my first major set-back/frustration. I lost hours of work - almost a completed project - because my Pinnacle project file corrupted. I lost 3 projects total, but the other two were only in the beginnings and losing them wasn't as big a deal. I'm really thinking Premiere might be a worth while investment, but I want to test it out before I drop that much cash on it. It looks pretty powerful and I've read good stuff about it. A lot of the people on here that make great stuff use Premiere too. It can't be worse than Pinnacle (their message board is riddled with unhappy customers).
On a positive note the one I've been really wanting to do is coming along. I've gotten a few clips laid out and the timing worked out with the music for them. I'm pulling in more footage now to continue working on it, but I need to spend some time on my first and my second, and my third AMVs first. Oh my goodness, I've really gotten in over my head, huh?
I don't think I'll have much time this week to work on my projects, that is until the weekend. Maybe I'll try to finish up my first AMV instead of adding more to my plate. Nah! Later.
