JOURNAL: Revenance (Chase Smith)

  • Free Time 2013-02-08 13:57:13 I often find myself with a lot of free time. I work 3-4 days a week ranging anywhere from 9 - 13 hour shifts. Right now I'm taking a few college classes but I dont procrastinate and get them done early, even the "big" projects. Perhaps the main problem is that none of it is really interesting nor is it challenging.

I often find myself searching for a meaning for my days. Sometimes I read books and other times I play videos games. Every now and then I write an op or two like I did this morning. But ultimately I wish I could find something that really sparks my interest.

Recently I've requested time off from playing in my WoW guild. It's on a private server and I really enjoy it but after 7 months of raiding the same content as what I consider to be the most boring class, I'm really ready for it to be over. But I didnt do anything of note anyways. It does add a schedule to my life that I dont always like but at least its something to stave off the eventual boredom that is to follow. Thinking about going back and trying to stick it out at least until the new content is released.

Right now I'm thinking of playing Tales of Graces f again because I still havnt beat it and have picked up many other games in its stead. Problem with this Tales installment though is that its really kiddie and the plot isnt all that interesting. The characters are mixed lot, most that are uninteresting.

I've also given some thought in watching FMA Brotherhood because I havnt seen it either. I have a tendency to finish animes because I will sit down and watch the episodes in a 5 or 6 day block or if nothing else in two weeks from my days off.d
  • Make this the day.. 2013-02-05 15:08:56 That you reach out and do something extra. Help someone in need or be nice to that person who you really can't stand. It doesnt need to be something big, the little things really add up.

It's been awhile since I ran, I used to do a couple of miles per day but without a treadmill I'm seeking a good alternative. Worst case scenario I'll go out and run outside but I'd rather be inside especially because it's so cold. To offset the fact that I didnt run, I did one more set of lifts and each individual stretch lasted 90 seconds. The extra 30 seconds is extremely noticeable. I've always wondered why people only stretch for 10 or 15 seconds. Hold it a little longer and you'll get your own work out.

  • Random Thoughts 1 2013-02-03 01:06:46 Fate / Zero

I like it alot so far, watching episode 13 now. Hope it picks up in the next 12 or so episodes but there's no doubt in my mind that it will. What a great idea for an anime.

Also if you don't have a dual monitor or need an extra TV consider buying one with your tax return. A TV is an investment and if you get a 35'' you probably wont need another one for quite some time.

The groundhog declared spring will be coming early. I always say I'm gonna watch Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and never do. I really should make time for that tonight or tomorrow before the Superbowl, wouldn't it be nice if it was on Netflix.

Gonna purchase plane tickets to go see Tori again. I really consider myself too old to be doing this long distance thing so I'm really hoping this works out. But considering our history I'd say we're on the right path that we need to be. The only thing that bothers me is I know now that Tori won't change or if she does it will only come through my own hard work. We've known each other for 4 years, I feel we still have a long way to go.

I'm not sure why I still play WoW. I raid and dominate in PvP but it's not something that I enjoy that much anymore. The farming and preparation gone into it just doesnt seem to outweigh the benefits I'd gain by doing something else. I'm just not sure what else I'd do with my time. I've quit WoW in the past and something ends up replacing it. I'd much rather know what that "something" is.

I really need a cigarette, gonna go have one in a moment.

Note to self: Stop smoking cigarettes.
  • Anime Elitists. GTFO 2013-02-01 05:33:31 One thing that pisses me off are the anime elitists on forums, chat rooms, etc.

You know the girl or guy. First they usually talk big in front of their friends. Second, they usually like something thats pretty mainstream but also popular or unique enough that makes it difficult to dislike yourself. And lastly, they usually like to insult and badger animes that they previously watched and may have even enjoyed but they are easy targets and psuedo intellectuals need their ammo.

Many of them like to bash Dragonball Z. For one reason or another they really don't like it. These people usually dislike Gundams, the few that do usually arent as vocal about liking this as others. Lot of them jump on the Naruto bandwagon hate.

I'm the VP of an anime club hosted at my college every Thursday. We have a great time watching anime and socializing with others that share our same passion. We watch everything from DBZ to Clannad, to old favorites like Slayers and Ranma 1/2. Yeh, it's pretty diverse.

Theres this guy and girl that come in at least twice a month. The girl is awesome she's about 20. Dude is in his early 20s and he's a real slimeball. The guy has the wrong attitude about anime, alot of people do imo. It's about enjoyment. It's NOT about what's most popular or what you feel makes an anime worthy of some trophy.

So anyways, I catch this guy insulting a couple people at the club because they like to watch a certain show (which isnt listed). I kicked his ass right out of our viewing room and told him if he can apologize he can come back any time he wants. He probably wont come back. Elitists like that are always so proud. What do you have to be proud about!? Everyone doesnt think you're smart or a badass. They think you have a horrible attitude.

Anyways, had a conversation with this girl he comes in with and I hope she continues to show. Hope she doesnt end up like him.

If you made it this far, props to you. Thanks for listening to my rant.
  • Nostalgia over the last 10 years 2013-01-29 14:34:11 Next year I will have been coming to AMV.org for 10 years. Makes me sound really old right? I started coming here when i was 19 or so and didnt create an account til I was 20. Alot of good memories here. A few poor ones as well but its important to be a "glass is half full" kind of guy.

I remember when I first came here I fought with Phade about having to donate to this place to see videos outside a penalty week or something like that. I should really donate more, FSM knows I've spent my fair share of time here.

Sometimes I find myself wanting to talk to people from the org and I go on the forums or the chat room and just lurk. It's definitely not good behavior especially because I havnt got much out of it. I find myself in such a mood now and I may try to change things this time. It's hard to realize your faults and fix them. I'm quite an abrasive individual. I know I'm difficult to get along with but I also know I'm loyal, often to a fault.

In the future I'd like to become more involved then just op AMV's. Either make my own or try to become involved on the forums. Not sure where to take this but I'll figure it out... always do. =)
