  • To Quu: 2002-10-13 17:17:03 I too find it sad to see poeple who delight in seeing others upset simply due to the fact that they can, for all intents and purposes, get away with it using the anonimity of the internet.

However, I dont think removing non creators would be a good idea. I have met tons and tons of wonderfull people who simply enjoy watching AMVs and commenting, but not creating them for themselves (a perfectly acceptable choice). Most of these people have just as much insite and helpfull words to offer as those of a creators when it comes to review and giving opinions.

But, like all large social gatherings, there are those that enjoy copping attitudes and generaly making a nuecence of themselves. Its inevitable.

Take heart though man, the good outwieghs the bad. You see this probably more than most of do due to your wide spread con attendance.

We are a great community, better than about 90% of the communities that exhist in the electronic world, and we realy musn't let a few pre pubecent kids disrupt anything or anyone.

Just my two cents of course, but it just saddens me to see so many people who have contributed so much to the AMV world (yourself, Bill Millberry, Akimbo and all the others I have been reading about) become dissheartend (sp?) over this.

And hey, if we ever do catch them at a con, ther is always the ritualistic tar and feathering ^_^
  • "Ubernauster!" 2002-10-12 12:56:03 Well, I got to see Miyazaki's new film, Spirited Away, at its big screen opening day here in Austin along with Beowulf and Machine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film. Every scene was so beautiful and interesting it pulled me right in. It was also the home to some of the greatest characters ever designed, from cute to creepy and everything in-between.
The dub is also extremely well done, and doesn't really suffer from any lackluster American acting.
Also, though Disney is in charge of its US release, it is actually Miyazaki's good friend John Lasseter of Pixar Animation who is in charge of the process. Lasseter said he fell in love with the movie, and really pulled for its US release, so you can bet that we aren't gonna miss anything in terms of content or translation.
Truly an amazing and imaginative film, I highly recommend it for anyone that isn't into anime souly for blood and guts.
As Miyazaki said himself about the film, "For anyone that will be ten years old, and anyone that has been ten years old".
