  • New Site Layout!! 2002-09-14 13:28:42 Woohoo! After weeks of working on the damn thing, its finaly done. I completely re-did the entire site, makeing it easier to read and navigate, and making 800x600 compatible (a demographic I sorely neglected on the first layout).
    Please come check it out and tell me what you think ^_^

    To MJ: Congrats an yet another award! You definatly deserve it ^_^
  • ho hum 2002-09-13 02:33:00 Well, Im about 50% done with the new layout for HypeOdermic,as wellas about 98% done with clip gather for my new vid. Should be a busy couple of weeks befors *DUN DUN DUN* AWA!!! Im damnexcited to be meeting all of the people there, and planon haveing a damn good time (as well as spending FAR too much money)

    More to come....
  • poot 2002-09-05 23:10:01 Well, havnt gotten any more work done on my new vid. Ive been such a slapdick about gathering clips for this project. Ugh do I hate clip gathering though. Much rather be getting a root canal r perhaps a bikini line wax than gather clips, but ah well, guess its a necessary evil ^_^

    In good news though, I am making damn good headway as far as redesigning the HypeO studio. I just got fed up with the old look. It was just so amatureish, and was not 800x600 friendly AT ALL, plus it was realy heavy on large full bitrate JPEGs wich has been hurting every server Ive been at. Ah well, the new layout looks great, and Im hopeing alot of you will enjoy it.

    Still looking for hosting after the alwayswebhosting fallout, and I want to stop draging down Adainmante's server as quick as humanly possible. More to come on this.

    If the handfull of you guys that actualy visit my site have found it down, its new url is http://hypeodermic.randomvariable.net.
    Just a heads up (with a dash of shameless self promotion ^_- )

    More from me in the near future, but for now, its time for the traditional Random Variable CS match. Gnight all ^_^

  • The AnimeFest Report 2002-09-03 01:37:16 Holly hell did we have fun up in dallas at this years Anime Fest. Heres the break down.

    Day 1
    ==========================
    Time to leave at 2:30pm. Myself and Wulfy drive to UT towers and pick up Carlos Corral, and start our roadtrip to Dallas. Road trip starts out a little rocky since the traffic is a little silly due to labor day weekend, so we are fourced to find all manner of alternate routs to I-35, but no matter. We come out of Austin just a little behind schedual, but nothing real significant, and I figure we can make up for lost time by going 90mph
    We continue our roadtrip till we hit Waco, where all of us started getting pretty damned hungrey. Over eating our Schlotskies (realy good deli for those of you unfamiliar), it is discovered that, not only does non of us know the adress of the hotel that the con is being held at, BUT NON OF US KNOW THE NAME OF THE DAMNED HOTEL EITHER, thus making it kind of a needle in a haystack situation . We all agree that we are all indeed morons, but figure if we make it to Mexican Juniors house (where we where staying for the con) we would be OK, because he had said earlier that the con was somnwhat close by. However, we didnt have directions for MJ's house, just a random adress. Ugh, morons all of us.
    We reach Dallas at 6pm. After roughly 12 stops at different gas stations, we make it to MJ's appartment at 10pm!! But....MJ isnt home Gah!! So we set out now to attempt to find this nameless hotel. We stop by 2 gas stations wich lead us to a hotel, but its not the right one. Wulfy and Carlos managed to convince them to look up AF in their computers though, and we finaly found out where to go. We walk into the con at 10:45, and proceed to attempt to find MJ. After about 20 minutes of walking around, and 4 times calling his house, we still hadnt found him. Carlos finally broke down and called his house one last time, when MJ picks up and tells us that he is at his house. Ack! But oh well. We get a little lost getting back from the con to MJ's, but nothing we werent already used to, and finaly make it for some welcom pizza and couches.

    Day 2
    ==========================
    We hit the con at about 12:30. We met up with Daniel Chang, another Austing AMV creator from Ninja Gaijin Studios, and proceded to the dealer room. I managed to walk ouf there with both the Lain and Blue Seed boxed sets, Carlos bought a wallscroll, and MJ as always bought Hentai. We then walked around with MJ's friend Big Dave and messed with a few people (more to come once the pictures get scanned up by Carlos )and then decided that we were gonna go look for an uprage to MJ's current computer (500Mhz E-machin ). We head to best buy, and scour the area, but diced to check out Fry's for comparitive prices. Best Buy ended up having the better deal, but we put the purchase on hold for that day. We headed back to MJ's for more pizza and some XBOX, and to prepare for our upcoming AMV panel. We need to be there the next day at around 10, so we all decided it was a good idea to turn in early, however, we pretty much stayed up till 4:30am watching AMV's on MJ's computer

    Day 3
    ==========================
    The day that everyone was at least a little nervouse about. Both our AMV panel and the AMV contest were being held today, and everyone is working off of maybe 4 hours of sleep max. Ack.
    We get there in plenty of time, and catch the last 10 minutes of the how to make a animated anime using flash and Adobe After Effects, wich was realy cool. While that panel was wrapping up, Wulfy and Carlos were walking around the dealer rooms ans such pimping our AMV panel trying to get more people to show up than the 10 that were in there for the current panel.
    Finaly its our turn. Carlos and Wulfy succeded, and we were looking at about 35-45 people in the panel.
    We started out talking to them while Daniel and Wulfy set up the laptop with all of our videos we were gonna show as well as premiere on it to show them the basics. They get that all set up and we take our seets up on the stage with microphones and everything (realy cool)
    We talked for a while and then tryed to show them premiere, but for some reason, it completely crapped out on us. Ack! Oh well, improvise. We talk some more about fundamentals of editing, as well as techniques that we use when we approach a potential project.
    Then we get to the section were we need to show our videos to show them certain points. Then the videos crapped out!! ACK!! Oh well, we had prepaired for the worse, and carlos had made a VHS copy of the vids. We put that in, but there is no sound! They fuck with the sound for a while, but all we got was either no sound or terrible feedback. Our time was then up, but we managed to answere alot of good questions, and I think we taught the attendants at leat a point or 2. We head to CiCi's pizza before the contest.
    Now the contest. They had fortunatly fixed all of the audio problems plaguing our panel and began showing vids. These were all pre judged, and were being shown in order from 4th place to 1st place in each catagory (Action, Drama, and Comedy). This was a great way of doing things, but was fucking stressfull for us. Ah well, no matter. The results were:

    Action:
    =======
    1st - Soultaker's Mission - Wonka
    2nd - Needles - Carlos Corral
    3rd - FLCL - Jason Wong

    Drama:
    =======
    1st - Service with a Smile - MJ (Mexican Junior)
    2nd - A Vampire Story - Wonka
    3rd - Noir - Poor White Boy Productions (I did not watch the vid becuase it had Noir Spoilers )

    Comedy:
    =======
    1st - Satan is my Master - Kurt Perry (This guy was cool as hell and a serious untapped tallent in the AMV world)
    2nd - Love Hina - Kurt Perry (again )
    3rd - Battery - Daniel Chang

    Needless to say I was fucking thrilled, as was MJ. We each recieved a very nice glass trophey and made a little "Thank you very much" speach, as well as got a 10$ gift certificate to Pop Culture anime shop. Both myself, MJ and Kurt all headed that way for some more money spending. I bought the Iria complete DVD series. We then headed back to the Con where we met up with one of the AMV judges and the director of the contest and headed up to their room to watch all of the AMV's on the closed cercuit TV channel. Very cool and very funny.
    We then headed back to MJs, where I fell asleep watching Demolition man while MJ, Daniel and Big Dave went to Cosplay.
    We then headed back to Austin at about midnight, getting back at 4, all in peice

    Well, that was the con as we saw it. Ill have pics up soon, but for now, I have alot of anime to watch
