JOURNAL: GloryQuestor (John W.)

  • Mid-January brings New Videos 2005-01-15 22:43:18 (I've decided to add a Journal post every second week from now. So, don't mind the wait inbetween if you don't mind reading about "The [not very] Wonderful Life of an Aging Internet and Anime Geek" ;) )

So far, my newest videos have been more experimental but still great.

Just posted my latest one ("Inside (Eva)") using footage from DVD using the new AMVapp tools. Even shrunk down to a smaller window, the footage is excellent. Now I'm working more and more to trying and balance video quality with hard disk space. (End of Eva took up 5.4GB of space is rather for someone with only around 10 or 11GB free to use. :| )

Still working on Part 3 of Stand Alone (More) Complex. I thought I had a good song, but the video's not turning out right. I'm working on new ideas and trying to figure out what fits (I also have to rip the footage again so that I can get better quality out of this one). A "remastered" version of the first two for better quality will be made after I finish Part 3.

In personal news, I'm having difficulties. Work is getting to be--well, more work, and I need to concentrate on studies. So, I'll be around but also not around. I'll still be working on AMVs though, and I value everyone's help in making better AMVs. :)

Also, if you like my journal entries ... I'm always eager to talk with people, especially about anime and movies, so don't be a stranger. Drop me a line (Private Message). :)
  • Happy New Years (with some AMVs to kick off the New Year) 2005-01-01 17:02:56 Major news: Stand Alone (More) Complex is finally out! :)

I've been keeping this idea around for a while, thinking of what music to use, but didn't really sit down and work on it until I picked up the Stand Alone Complex OST+.

Now I have the music to put with the video, and the results are very good. The capture quality was good this time around, the music really sounds great, and the AMVs match the songs well.

As you have probably noticed, I tagged both of the first two parts "Asuka Series" instead of "Rei Series". This is because I love both of these videos, even after watching it over and over for editing. They came out really well, with no discernable errors. Therefore, they deserve to be called finished, final, and of the top quality.

(The only thing I have to work on is how to increase the capture quality even more. DVD2AVI isn't very flexible, since DivX is the best option and ... well, you can see the quality for yourself. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.)

  • The first Journal Entry / Could it be fate? 2004-10-12 17:49:54 Not much to really say right now. My job and classes keeps me busy, so I haven't spent much time working on my first AMV.

First, I still lack a few things I need to consider getting before I begin in earnest -- like a larger hard drive. :)

I'm planning on using a few rarely-heard music tracks and footage from Evangelion Platinum to start my AMV creation. The "story" is already set, I just need to select a track that works with the story.

I hope to keep the journal updated often, though, and I want to get other's opinions and ideas on how I could start out having well-synched video and audio. (My short test runs didn't come out as well as I wanted, but then again I just started. :| )

    Thanks for reading! :D
