  • Vamp Princess Miyu and 'omens of Old' 2004-10-28 03:14:18 Just for note: I'm nearly three hours behind the server's time.

Anyway, I'm not impressed by the VAMPIRE PRINCESS MIYU anime/manga. I have old read one manga, but it was too mind bending to enjoy. Saw two episodes and abhor the little bitch-kid. The laughing, haughty brat invoked nothing except an urge to strange that voice into silence.

It was an AMV to 'Golden Eyes' and an excellent x-over fic series by Jei that even got me to watch it. I am going to stick to "Kyuuketsuki Duo" at http://www.cs.hmc.edu/~jchew/misc/gw.html for anything to do with the VPM world.

The moon eclipse was earlier this night (Oct 27) and resembled more of a muffled glaze then overshadowing. Still, it was alright. Slow to change, winter chill and light pollution aside, me and Kat contented ourselves with quiet talk. Can't see too many stars despite the clear sky.

Before that, before dusk started setting, Yasha got that 'there is something in the backyard I must chase' bark. I peered out and noticed a bird. Not the regular steller bluejay, robin or crow either. Like a plumb not-quail. A closer look and we saw it was a small hawk of some sort. The size of a cat and eating some unfortunate prey, which at first glance was thought to be a squirel but we later saw the hawk 'skinning' feathers.

Last friday I was picking up the Anime Night gang and saw a 5 point buck. So they called it. I don't remember how you should could antlers. Just walked across Leo's property. It wasn't as if the gathering to siblings, mother, friends and me were quietly staking the place out either. He didn't seem to mind us any though.

Don't usual see so much 'wildlife' alive and not roadkill. Very nice.

  • Coming over here, DnD and a little Life 2004-10-17 05:02:43 Well, Anime Night is doing a little re-locating at my house these last two weekends. And then Saturday is RP Night. It has been a bit hectic to schedule to keep these two events: Bellydance Gathering came up, job look ups, recording my Adult Swim (don't give me that look, it's free).

I went to the 30th Anniversary DnD event at Borders Bookstore, but it was such a let down. I'm a second generation DnD-er. They had us playing lvl 1 pre-made characters, four room dungeon, three monsters and no challenge! The three other players at my table were part of an established group and held some animosity, 'outsider' 'female', towards me that disgusted me greatly. So in a way I'm glad it was over in less then 20 minutes.

I managed to get back to the library DnD session in time to play with Peter and two newbie/friends. That was fun and wish we'd had more then 2 hours before library closed. Oh well.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grabbed two pizzas, finished off the Anime Night sodas, watched Vampire Hunter D before suffering death by DM, and had a riot Saturday night. My sibling broke up with one of our Council Players, so that person spent the time talking with Kat all night. Hope it helps get thru this.

Comp is still not reading any burned CD, including AMVs, so I'm getting more then a little annoyed. Kuso...

  • Timing and backlog 2004-09-30 15:43:06 I promised myself that anything in this journal would somehow relate something of the subject [AMV].

Our Anime Night, back to Fridays, was nearly scrapped because the host was going to a Homecoming Game. The school and its field is nearly across the street from my home so I suggeste; "It's mainly a social gathering where you want to see friends, but not the game. Gas is expensive for your truck. So why don't you go to the Homecoming and sneak away during the Game over to my house. I can host it nearly as easily. And when the Game is closing down just walk back for it. Save gas and save you from boredom!"

Yeah me, I had a working plan! That was arranged monday.

Today, Thursday, I learned that a family friend is being restricted from his house for domestic disputes. He has no money, his truck is with us his neighbors, and mother offered him the two-week time period on our couch. I personally have no problem with this. We have given grace to people overnight before, but the couch is also the room where all the entertainment is. So we might be winding down very early.

I shudder to think what he'll think of our all night D&D session Saturday though. Right as our group ceases for the night I also tape an anime show I adore. As always anything planned rarely survives the Universes' timing.

And people wonder why I hate planning...

On a good note I'm off the Fair temp job. The dart booth was great until the end. Our stock kept disappearing and we were forced to climb up and down the display boards for prizes (taking down for customer/putting up to make it look good again). I was awake the whole time though, and my feet didn't have me limping this year either.

Carpooled with Kim every morning. Lost one booth partner to a dart bouncing off something, likely a balloon. Got her right between forearm and wrist. <ouch> Our booth was right over a storm-drain, and we had two flash floods of rain as well as a few days of regular. Overall it was sunny days/overcast.

No true job offers dispite an interview. Ah well. So it goes.

  • Surgery and Anime 2004-08-29 01:50:43 Cat's surgery is well and done, having gone in early 6 am Friday. Already up and about when me, sibling, Peter and Bo went to visit not long after Dad had left. My driving skills were greatly reduced for some reason as I had a sudden suffering of 'silly-can't-think-properly-but-like-a-shallow-ditz' episode.

Sibling took my keys and drove us home from the hospital... Strangly enough, a good dose of chocolate calmed me down.
    -----------

I had seen Tim earlier this week. Our stray RPer was much more 'there' then he had been for the last few months. We got to talking about anime and D&D in comfortable lazy pace upon his porch. He even leant me a sub-titled 'THOSE WHO HUNT ELVES', where the cat-spirit possess the tank, which I'd confessed to wanting to watch. My memory needed to refresh the episode.

Anime Night (now Friday) was fun in its chaos. We had a game of RISK running in the dinning room most of the night; Steve (Leo's bro) was playing a computer war game; I attempted to coax Peter's computer into letting me watch AMV's; we had watched EXCEL SAGA/MEGA MAID/one I forget as a whole group when the night began.

    -----------

Dad made some great dinner tonight, something about 'chicken nacho green-chilly-pepper' which surprisingly was wonderful!! I'm a picky eater, so this is a happy change.

  • To catch up & relatives.... 2004-08-22 03:34:44 This Thurs day was anime night, and it got off to a slow start by my thinking. Some of the guys did MAGIC for awhile (first YU-GI-OH! cards..gawd!) and I busied myself with 'Askua' aka Peter's computer.

Well, the group has decided to move Anime Night back to Fridays due to scheduling. That will start next week. But we got a kick out of watching more of 'RED VS BLUE'! Damn, got to get me the series!!
    --------------------------------

Saturday (now is technically Sunday' the cousins came visit from Idaho. Joey is a huge 10th grader, and the twins are still ankle-biters that need constant watching. A pain/distraction when we are D&D playing. Poor Yasha has never seen human 'puppies' nearly her size. Her tail was low more then a few times when the girl cousin: kicked her to get by, combed her fur with a comb.. a few other little things that has no endeared her to the chibi.

Joey is far better behaved then when last seen some years ago. Has to outweigh me by at -least- 45 pounds, nearly my short size high too. Only the terror/respect gained from childhood choke-holds and such have kept any thoughts of doing anything to me or sibling.

Not that he seems inclined to right now. Polite (always a wary caution for me) and more mature.

Anyway, as a whole I was happy for this family reunion at our house. Got Aunt Tara, the cousins, their parents, and then the D&D group for dinner. It might only be because this particular set of family might only see each other once in a few years and then only for a short time.
