Safari is weird ...
2004-07-26 00:20:37
Hmm ... looks like Safari was just being stupid because apparently, I could see the entries for both of my videos when I view my profile in FireFox. That's weird ... I guess my video wasn't deleted ... it was just a bug with Safari ... that's all. O_o ... Different Browsers with different standards ... man, it's weird.

Azumanga, bandwidth, and things ...
2004-07-25 23:59:19
It's been a while since I bought any anime DVDs ... probably because I was really poor a few months ago and the only anime-fix I've been getting on was on fansubs and anime clubs.
I bought the first volume to Azumanga Daioh. I figured that if I'm going to start my own anime collection, I should start with some of the odd ones. So far, I think it's pretty good. I would say my favourite character so far would be Yukari-sensei ... probably because she drives just about the same way I drive ... only a bit more reckless and destructive from the facial hints I've gathered.
Speaking of driving, if I ever run into any scenes with Yukari-sensei driving, I might come up with some kind of Initial D knock-off ... there weren't any in the first volume but considering the look on Chiyo-chan and Ayumu-chan's faces, I take it that Yukari was pretty darn reckless.
Right now, I have a few ideas running around but I'll wait until my next paycheck so I can get the next volume or two and watch that. Maybe it'll stablize some these ideas.
Just today, I noticed my first video was removed somehow ... I think it's because my host hit its bandwidth limit. The AMV system must have detected a dead link and automatically removed it. But then again, why is my other one still there? Hmm ... anywho, I figured I should start up a BitTorrent tracker on my website just releave bandwidth next month. I just noticed right now that it's almost at its peak.
Or it could be other things ... I wasn't told why so I could only make a few guesses. If it's not a bandwidth problem, it could be a moralistic problem since it was using digisub content, as used as an example in my tutorial, instead of DVD content. Although, I doubt that ... otherwise, most of my brother's videos would have been removed, too, since he uses digisubs in some of his videos.
Or ... it may have been removed by the request of a record company. There are quite a few companies out there that don't like the idea of having their artist's song used in fan-video. It all depends really. There's too much legal air in that part and I'm not in the position or qualification to explain all that stuff, but if it's that reason, then I guess I can't remaster my video when the actual DVD's come out.
Speaking of my tutorial, by the way, I also updated it a bit ... I fixed up the export options on the third page so that the DV codec is used instead of MPEG-4. iMovie is a DV-based application so it would only make sense to export using DV. However, I just learned that there is a difference between a QuickTime .mov file using DV and an actual .dv stream. Apparently, it needs to be enclosed in a QuickTime file in order for mencoder or ffmpeg to work it. Otherwise, it just doesn't work. I'll submit a new copy of that to AbsoluteDestiny tomorrow morning but for now, I'm going to bed.
Nighty night.

Layla Ashley and Micki Opticals probably doesn't mix ...
2004-07-07 18:08:03
The more I think about it, the more I think that it wouldn't work well ... there's no way I could mix Drunken Tiger's Fist of Fury with Avenger ... well ... I just can't find a way to mix Korean hip hop into an anime that usually plays goth-like music by ALI PRO.
Although, ALI PROJECT's Aka to Kuro might be suitable for Avenger ... but I might end up mixing it with Noir and Madlax along with Avenger ... I don't know yet.
However, I still like Fist of Fury by Drunken Tiger and I might use it for another anime. My friend suggested that I should try mixing it with Air Master. I haven't seen Air Master but a quick Google search told me that it's anime with fighting in it so it might work ... hmm ...
Or I'll just rework the plan again ... maybe something will work ...

Some thoughts
2004-07-03 22:49:19
I thought about my recent movie for a while ... I think I should have mixed it up during the two parts that used KID'S STORY and PROGRAM instead of using one short to fill up a whole section. However, I think I did better in the beginning and the ending parts ... there's a lot of variation there and I like to see different things in a music video. Otherwise, if I wanted to keep the setup that I had right now, I would at least try some more effects on certain areas ... make it more obvious on some parts while subtle on others.
Well ... I just realized lots of stuff got licensed recently during the AnimeExpo. I personally think that's a good thing because I really like watching the anime that I have on fansubs on commercially pressed DVD's. That, and I believe most commercial subs are more accurate than fansubs. It makes me want to learn the Japanese language more. I'm personally looking forward to BakuTen (Burst Angel) to be available on DVD as well as a few more titles but that one definately!

I blame mencoder for image corruption
2004-07-01 00:06:06
After a bit of experimentation, I've noticed that the image corruption doesn't happen in the unsplitted video, only in the butchered pieces so I figured that it might have something to do with mencoder, the Unix CLI program I use to split my AVI files in pieces so that I can use them in iMovie. So I decided to trim the AVI file using QuickTime Pro and export that piece as a DV stream. It took a lot longer to do and is a real pain in the butt, however there was no image corruption in the splitted pieces so I didn't end up pulling out my hair! Now I can actually get to work again on this video ... I now have one problem ... I need to cram a 5:30 minute fight scene in 20 seconds ... I guess I'll just figure that part out tomorrow.
At the mean time, I have another idea running around with the Animatrix ... I figured I might use a move song instead of a Linkin Park song, which my brother used in his recent AMV of Animatrix (which you can find at this URL: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members/members_videoinfo.php?v=42365 ). In case you don't know, move (Yuri, Motsu, T-Kimura) did the opening and closing theme to Initial D 4th Stage, if you watched some episodes of that anime before you should have a good idea what they sound like. If not, you can check them out here: http://www.electropica.com/
