Married AMVs

Though "Blue Cossette" and "Eiri: In Stitches" can stand alone, they are intended to be parallax views of the same emotional territory. They are intrinsically bound to one another by the common theme of displaying the shadows cast upon the souls of Cossette and Eiri; reflections of eachother, "His-and-Hers" AMVs.

Year End Recap
2006-11-17 10:00:26
8 vids in one year, not too shabby if I do say so myself. I MIGHT be able to squeeze one more in, but my RL schedule has me pretty much away from home or otherwise busy starting today.
Next year I'm going to start working with After Effects. Expect a few funny/absurd AMVs and more of my regular sentimental pieces.

Works of Heart

That is what I aim for in most of my AMVs. So they are not flashy, hard-rock, effects intensive videos, but why does every video have to be? Can a video not be appreciated for simply melding the mood of the song and anime into one cohesive experience?
I'm not trying to say that I think I am the greatest simple AMV creator. I have a couple posted that disappoint me (and I appreciate constructive criticism, I am still learning.) However, to completely disregard that a video HAS captured and/or accented the mood of the song and say the video is crap just because it's a slow, sad song and the video isn't flashy, lip-sync'd, 20 things going on at a time, is plain ignorant and makes me lose all respect for your opinion. You could simply say "I didn't like the music used, and don't care for the anime", instead of "Does this even qualify to be called an AMV?" when I ask your opinion. I'd expect those that randomly DL and not like a video for those reasons not to comment.
I don't watch AMVs just for constant effects and high-energey music. I watch to see if the creator has advanced the sources in some way. THAT is the essence of AMVs; making a new experience from two media sources that one may not be able to do originally. For me, a lovingly crafted video wins, regardless of if the creator used After Effects or not.
Admittedly, I forced my way thru "Collide" and "Chise". The ideas sounded much better than the end results, but they had to be done. I would get nowhere if I gave up on a video that even had one shining moment that captured the feel of the entire video.

Adahlfin's Folley

"Chise's Heart" didn't quite come out as planned. If you look at my Haibane videos you'll see that my video quality can be much better. So what went wrong this time? Over-encoding/compression, I think. I made the clips in VDub, deinterlacing and compressing to XviD there. Then if edited the video in Magix and compressed again (XviD). Then ran it thru VDub again for cropping to hide elements in the "black bar" areas. While this did produce a video under 30MB (about 1/3 my usual finished product) there was a lot of loss in quality.
"Chise's Heart" will be remastered on Tsubaki with a few more effects included and excluding the Dub ending. However, if the same last scene is used the subtitles will be there as well, but probably a smaller font. It's questionable to me if the 'characters' on the "little glowing ball of Chise" actually matched the audio, or if they translated to anything at all. Of course, I can't read kanji/kana anyways, but the clue is in the hidden cut where the 'words' fade out and back into focus there is stuff going on between the cuts and the speech is different at both ends (in both the original and dub audio) but the 'words' appear the same.

Mina

I think I'm gonna save up for a new computer that will be dedicated for video editing, and that one better take After Effects unlike Mina (current computer). I don't know why Mina doesn't like After Effects, just gives an error when I install and try to run it.
Once I've got Tsubaki up and running, I'll begin working on my "master project." More on that in the future...
