Really!? What a dick!

In other news, I've passed the first part of my assessments for the new job I'm trying to get in the Army, which is of course the Army Physical Fitness Test using the Special Operations Standards, which really isn't that hard to do, but "correct" performance is strictly enforced and "correctly" done push-ups is usually what kills everyone. But I passed, so now I wait for my Psych eval ^__^

at least I got my phones...

Day one in Seattle, we woke up reeeeeeally late (bodies were still in Japan time), so instead of heading downtown, we just decided to head over to mall and check out the Verizon store to get our stateside cell phones.
We ended up getting a BOGO for the DRIOD X2, could've held out for the DRIOD 3, but they didn't have any in stock, I wasn't about to wait for them to mail it to my house.
Walking around the mall, I realized pretty quick I missed Japan. So much more of a friendlier atmosphere there.
At night... NONE OF THE KIDS WANTED TO GO TO SLEEP!!! And because of it, even though I knew I needed to, I didn't get to bed until 4am >.<
Day two in Seattle... noon... we wake up again.... and my oldest son is sick and throwing up. Poor kid. Luckily, he was only allergies and he was throwing up mucus, so he was his usual, hyper active kid bouncing around by dinner time.
So now we're prepping our luggage for the last leg of our trip tomorrow morning and a bit sad we didn't get to see the Space Needle, maybe next time.
PS - I've only recently noticed there's a lot of people wearing "gaming" T-Shirts, such as Xbox/PS3 and PAX shirts... only to now understand that PAX is starting here on Wednesday when we leave lol

I'm back in the United States of America... but I'm still a long ways from home. I avoided a Typhoon in Okinawa, just to be held up by a Hurricane. Next available flight to North Carolina is in three days! So it looks like the Family and I are going to go do some sight seeing in Seattle =p
Yeah, for unexpected vacations!

I took me a total of 16 hours and 20 mins (to include a nap and site seeing at the top), but I can scratch "climb Mt. Fuji" off of my bucket list!
We went with a member of the JSDAF (Japanese Self-Defense Air Force) who had done the climb once before and he took us on the "less-crowded route" called the Gotemba Route. Turned out it was less-crowded, because not many other people want to take the hardest route to the top! >.<
We started the climb at night around 10pm, with a moon so bright you could almost go without a flash light (but seeing that I paid for a head lamp for this trip, I was going to make sure I used it lol) This climb turned into just as much of a mental challenge as it was a physical challenge. The fine, loose gravel, had my feet sinking into the dirt with each step I took. I wanted to quit within the first mile... but I soldiered on because my step-dad and I promised each other we make it to the top since we both found ourselves stationed in Japan, so I damn sure wasn't about to disappoint.
We didn't quite make it to the summit in time for sunrise, instead we stopped at the last station before the top to take pictures of the most amazing sunrise I've ever seen. Shortly after, we continued our hike to the top, at one point, exhaustion set in (seeing how I hadn't slept early the previous morning, plus all the walking I did around Akihabara lol). So I found a flat rock off to the side of the trail, laid on it, and passed out for about an hour before resuming the march.
By the time I made it to the summit, I was dehydrated, out of water, and found my extremities were starting to tingle, I was afraid I was getting symptoms of hypoxia, so I was taking more and more frequent rest. At the summit, I was treated to a nice rest area and a lovely meal of instant cup of noodles at the price of 800 Yen a cup. Then there was the 500 Yen for 500ml bottles of water! I guess they figure we won't be able to get it anywhere else, but I glad it was there
Rejuvenated and ready to go, we went to the official highest point of Mt. Fuji, which housed an old, decommissioned weather observatory and hiked around the edge of the summit, even mailed off some post cards. The trek down the mountain, was rather interested... must have busted my ass about a dozen times. And that damn loose gravel made it very interesting when I started running down it, it was almost like I was skiing down a slope.
All in all, I had an awesome experience and I was glad to have finished the climb. And to finish the day, we all went out and ate at a Japanese "Denny's" complete with a Bakuman themed menu.
