  • Leeds United 0 - 4 Liverpool 2002-02-03 09:31:15 My headache is cured !! Look what a great result can do for one's health.
We didn't do so well in attack with the usual "just pump the ball" mentality strongly rooted in our playing style.
But we were phemomenal in defence....repelled everything leeds threw at us with Gerrard and Carragher getting special mention. Heskey has been getting a lot of stick lately but hey he was responsible for all 4 goals today

    1) Earning a freekick under an impossible situation (the commentator said: he had no right to get to the ball let alone win a freekick)which Rio Fredinand score from. O 'leary: "thats good my boy, now try scoring on the other side"
    2) Scoring an 'Owen' goal...sprinting into Gerrard's pass and rounding the keeping before slotting into an empty net.
    3) Acted instintively to a uncleared corner and vollyed powerfullt into the net ( another Owen goal)
    4) Provided Owen's goal with a flick on although Owen needed 2 attempts to score

He's my MOM no doubt. My faith in him however

Another amusing highlight of the match must be Kewell earning a FK but seemed to be disgruntled somehow and kicked at the ground. His boots flew out and hit the referee..earning himself a yellow and injuring himself in the process and had to be subtitued. All this for a fk which he rightly earned. Strange ???

  • Anime in Singapore 2002-02-01 03:01:11 Had a chat with Joash of Miyuki Animation Club the past 2 days. It would seem that not only is he a crazier anime fan than me( his collection of anime is stupendous and he agreed to share some of those with me..thanx Buddy)he also has high hopes/ideals for the anime scene in Singapore.

He took over the role of chairperson just a few months back but from the way he talked with me..i find him quite a nice chap. Those anime fans from Singapore ( those reading this from SGTS and other singaporeans from AMV.ORG)take note:

    Joash
    -------
"hopefully with input from the fan base like us, it will help the commercial entities do a good job instead of just making it another commercial thrust.also, i think it's a good opening for getting AMV culture recognised in singapore."

About mediacorps' involvement in the big $$ anime event of the year (A film festival co-origanised by the Singapore Film Society. It seems that , to open the event..mediacorp artistes will be cosplaying as anime characters. SO CAN YOU IMAGINE FANN WONG AS MIMA RIN , JACELYN TAY AS PRINCESS MONONOKE ? That will be an interesting sight.

    ======================================================================
"Mediacorp is involved because SFS is responsible for the anime film festival in sept. the president of singapore film society happens to also be the COO of mediacorp, Kenneth Tan."

"Kenneth Tan was the VIP for MAC Cosplay 2001 and he claimed that it was an eye-opener and has since planned with some input from us for the coming big film festival intended to be a yearly precedent."

"We are a small club (Miyuki) with only about 150+ members. the big players are now Heeren, Mediacorp, Singapore Film Society, Odex, AXN, etc... they are responsible for all events other than dec cosplay 2002. sept event is supposed to have national media coverage as well as mediacorp artists cosplaying and no less than $40,000 spent in budget by SFS and Odex. we as a club are only involved as participants you could say."
    =========================================================================

    My turn to speak
    ----------------

Hey now no one can say that anime is just some kiddish stuff that must be annihilated. Far from that, anime has generated huge commercial and fan interest in the last couple of years. Although the high commercial invlovemenr is not always desirable but it is neccessary to push the anime scene in Singapore one step further.

    The future is BRIGHT.

    Plugging MAC'S other events

HOT HOT HOT OF THE PRESS...

    Heeren's Orchard-Ginza Tweening Event (2nd March 2002)
    -----------------------------------------------------

I've just been informed of the plans that Heeren has for the coming
march holidays that will also coincide with the Orchard Road - Ginza
tweening event that's a major issue for all the malls in Orchard Road
during the month of march. Heeren hopes to be able to hold an anime
event that will specifically benefit cosplayers and the details are
    as follows:

    1. Heeren hopes to get Kodak Express to sponsor the making of several
professionally done backdrops for proper portrait photo-taking
    2. Kodak Express will also be approached to supply quality film and
photographers to take 'studio-quality' shoots that will be developed
    with simple-framing of good standard
    3. Cost for these kodak moment shots will be subsidised by sponsors
making it affordable for almost every cosplayer to have a high
    quality portrait done
    4. Plans to even have a make-over crew on standby to add finishing touches
    5. Plans to get professional costume-makers to do about 3 difficult
but impressive costumes for people without costumes to have their
    kodak moment
    6. Possible for cosplayers to do the costume loan/exchange suggestion
that was posted recently on the ML
    7. All cosplayers get an exclusive one-day special shopping card
entitling them to incentives given by 90% of the Heeren's tenants

Isn't this exciting? Here are a few reasons why this looks to be
    great news for us:

    1. Kodak gets exposed to a cosplay event and if successful, makes it
a lot easier for us to approach them to be our official media/film
sponsor for MAC Cosplay 2002... meaning that they get to sponsor film
for official photos taken by the club, and also get to sell film
during Cosplay 2002 so that shutterbugs may snap away with no fear of
running our of film, available at a discounted rate.
    2. The backdrops which are going to be made by Heeren and Kodak
Express can be used again during MAC Cosplay 2002. This way, MAC
Cosplay 2002 gets professionally done backdrops at no cost at all to
    the club. Nice!
    3. Having a professionally taken portrait done at a discounted rate.
come on, you're not going to see this deal anywhere else. makeover
    included. ^_^
    4. I wonder how discounted HMV's anime soundtracks become with the
    privilege card. ^__^
    5. No reason to feel shy about using former costumes since this is
not a competition at all, rather a fun and once-in-a-long-while
opportunity to do the above-mentioned with other cosplayers from all
over singapore. so no stress about having to rush a costume for this
    event.

Here's where we play a part in seeing this actually happen. Heeren is
only now awaiting the crowd response to this announcement i'm making.
if it's positive, you can be sure that they will do their best to see
it come to past. what they would like to know is just exactly how
keen the anime/cosplaying fans are about this. also, they'd like to
hear suggestions on what kind of pro backdrops you'd like to see for
this event. please do send your suggestions and help us give a show
    of support too!

    THEN....

    Heeren's Cosplay Party 2002 (14 Dec 2002)
    ----------------------------------------

With a successful collaboration, Heeren will be more than keen to see
that cosplayers get their cake and eat it too! heady plans are being
brewed at the moment that sing to the tune of:

"Imagine this... The whole Heeren Mall closed to the public for a
PRIVATE COSPLAY PARTY where anime/cosplay fans get together for a
night of loud karaoke (using the Heeren's sound system and fountain
stage, disco lights?) catered sushi party and other things that can
happen when anime fans take over an entire shopping mall!!!"

The current idea is for MAC Cosplay 2002 to take place during the
afternoon and early evening, after which we all trout down to Heeren
    and party, party, PARTY!!!

Now, exactly which part of these plans have we ever done before? ^__^
what an interesting year 2002 is turning out to be.

  • BIG MAC?? 2002-02-01 02:43:56 I'm quite excited by the prospect of making a trailer for the MAC cosplay in December 2002. Quite honoured to be asked to do it but it remains to be seen wtr i am up to the task or will i be forced to drop it due to unexpected commitments (Adam , a musician [Forbidden Planet] had previously asked me to create a vid for their band but due to commitments to work and studies i can asked for a few months delay and it seems they could't wait that long). I certainy hope for the former.

I do have a vague idea how i would like to do this but i'll need some real life footage of cosplayers to compliment my idea. Finally i may have a chance to create a video for others instead of just myself.

The ladies in office have been feeding me with Brownies, sweets and chocolates again. This together with the cheap and good food in TP is going to see a 'ballooned' me in prob just a few weeks. The fact that my IPPT (retest) is coming in 2 weeks time didn seem to bother me at all. Oh well....

Typing this in office..shows how FREE (read: bored) i am.
