  • Done... 2005-05-23 17:01:05 I think I'm done with my AMV. I don't feel like I can add much more at the moment, I'm afraid of ending up spoiling it if I try to do so... and this tells me that I need to let it rest for now. I'm satisfied with it, in any case... :)
  • Argh 2005-05-22 04:50:38 I hate PAL footage. Bad PAL footage. Because of all the goddamn full blended frames. ARGH.

No kidding, I'm all willing to put time and effort into making an AMV, but cleaning some clips frame by frame, almost, because the end result on some of them after deinterlacing looks like someone forced one image to blend within the next one is... uhm... a complete waste of time.

Oh well. At least I know how to use Photoshop, and how to use it fast, so it's probably not taking as much time as if I was a complete newb...
  • Got 'em 2005-05-21 06:41:02 The nice mail lady brought me my Ayashi no Ceres DVDs today, which was a nice surprise. I must admit that I took a bet on these. I ordered through cduniverse.com, as I had seen them mentioned in a thread on the forums here (and they take Paypal, on which I have quite a bunch of money), yet always lingering was the fear that perhaps the DVDs would be bootlegs, which I'd have hated (I am NOT throwing money into stuff like that; if it's to have piracy-related stuff, might as well download it myself or ask friends to lend me fansubbed episodes... if I am to buy a DVD, then I want to blow my money on something "real"!).

I was a bit frightened at first, when I saw "Collector's Edition" on it and that it was in 12 episodes on 2 DVDs. Then I realized that there was a nice Viz logo on the cover (I have no idea of who publishes what in the USA, but seems to me that Viz is legit), and that 6 eps on a DVD is pretty much... normal and believable. Moreover DVD Decrypter can remove subtitles off it (yeah, I tested!), so it's one more proof (or one less risk that it may be a bootleg).

Now, I hope that the series is worth it *lol* I've really liked the manga, in any case - and I'd really like to make an AMV out of it - so I know that it'll at least be useful to me. But of course, I'd prefer like the series too, haha.

    We'll see :)
  • What to do on such a day... 2005-05-20 09:59:33 Caught one of the dreaded "summer colds", yayh. This pretty much pisses me off, because it means no exercise, and I already know that I'm going to feel terribly frustrated about it if it lasts more than 3 or 4 days. I can't do aerobics or cardio-training with a cold, and even weight-lifting gets harder to do when the body is weakened. Dammit. I wanted to up the load by 10 pounds on each machine this week, I guess this will have to wait a bit now... *sigh*

I've spent most of the day so far in a sort of hazy state. Can't sleep due to the whole itchy throat feeling and crap, won't be able to sleep well tonight, so blah... I just vaguely bought the groceries and answered a few professional calls (I hope my croaky voice won't make the customers run away! *lol*), and spent some time just as vaguely working on my vid. I hope I haven't done anything wrong with the effects just because my head was stuck up my ass, haha. Now that I've extracted all the footage I need, anyway, this one will likely take me less time to complete (it's about 2:50 minutes shorter than my Angel's Egg AMV, after all).

I want to do it properly, without haste, but somewhat I'm eager to finish it because I want to see the result. Isn't that contradictory!... :)
  • Yet another change of mind! 2005-05-17 16:29:51 I seem to get these in special offer packages lately. Getting more ideas for AMVs again was one thing, but varying ideas on a same anime was something I was yet to experience. Perhaps it comes from the fact that the project I'm currently working on stems from a desire to work with one particular anime, and not a specific combination, so I could more easily "switch" to another idea/song with it? I'm not sure. It may be that.

All in all, I think I prefer my second idea. It's going to be tougher than the first one, due to having a lesser amount of footage for it (same anime, same DVDs, but way less scenes involving the chosen theme), and I'll likely give a try to the first one all the same once I'm done; however, I think it may give an even better result in the end, and the song I've chosen for this one is one that inspires me a lot.

I'm also tempted to add effects this time, if only to get the hang of them, yet I realize that I don't feel like doing so. I've never thought that "tons of effects = good AMV" (on the contrary, in fact - effects are only good when wisely used), so I just can't push myself to add effects for the sake of effects. Meh. I'm going to see if I can use some basic stuff, such as cross-fades and perhaps a few tint changes, but nothing spectacular.
