Currently finishing the extraction of clips from DVD number 4... One more to go before I can gather all my footage and properly edit my AMV.
I got struck with another idea today, and somehow, I wish this moment had never existed, because while I seriously feel like doing it (it'd be fun, I'd love it, and I already have some images and music in mind for it), getting appropriate footage will be totally impossible, for the simple reason that the AMV I want to create would be to... a story that I've been writing. Granted, I don't plan on making it a very long one, yet the problem remains, whether it's about 30 seconds or 4 whole minutes.
Given that drawing and animating my own series isn't at the program of the next 30 years, I'm considering getting footage from various anime, and trying to tie all of this together as best as I can. No need to say that this is NOT something I'm going to do right now... but I'm keeping it in mind no matter what. I like the concept. It's challenging both my (meager) skills and imagination, and I like this! -

Great, now I'm very, very tempted to make an AMV to the "Requiem for a Dream" OST (the Lux Eterna theme, more particularly). I'm a bit annoyed, because this one probably has been used over and over again... on the other hand, there's no need hiding it, this music inspires me, and not only a little (not mentioning that, like in the proverbial guide on this website, I CAN listen to it for weeks without getting bored with it). I don't know... maybe I'll do that someday, even if it means running the risk of not being original. Can't be worse than some other songs used in here, after all - and the aim is to have fun too, so meh... fun I'll have.
Tonight I'm ripping the episodes from the 4th DVD (there are 5 total). This whole process of ripping, indexing and selecting clips is a bit boring, I admit (mainly because it's long and I can't do much more while it rips, seems it eats quite an amount of resources on my comp...). I can't wait until I have all the footage I need, and can really start working on my AMV without bothering about this... -

Going on today with extracting the footage for my next AMV - or rather, making the clips in VirtualDubMod. It's weird, how for some episodes I extract like 3 seconds worth of clips only, then the next one I wonder if I shouldn't convert the whole ep, as I have like 30 jobs in the queue for it.
I wanted to try and edit directly from the AVS scripts, but darnit, Premiere doesn't follow, it's way too choppy for me to edit properly, and seemingly using low-res versions of the episodes doesn't work well with Premiere Pro... so I'm stuck making small clips and getting rid of the VOBs afterwards. I think I need a third HDD, it's becoming tight here, between my footage and the rest of my data!
On a sidenote, my banners got approved, and one of them has even made it to "worthy" overnight... so I'm glad ^_^ -

While looking at some of the banners on the site (I want to change the one I've put as a link on my own website... it's 3 years old, after all!), I suddenly wondered, why not make a few myself and submit them? Thus I had some fun with Photoshop earlier on today. If I can't at least have one of them be approved, then I'm really a crappy graphic-designer! *laughs*
I'll see how that goes. I probably won't make a lot of them, but for now, they sure were fun to make. -

There was this short little trainwreck in the Site Suggestions forum earlier on, that made me roll my eyes and chuckle a bit, I admit. The suggestion was about having a RP room on the site or something, the it seems that the topic got prety much heated along the lines of "we should vote"... stuff like that.
Then it made me think, why the heck should everything always contain "lots of different things"? I couldn't find a satisfactory answer to this.
Yup, I pretty much agree with the mod who posted. Don't we already have enough topics to discuss on the forums? This is a tendency I've seen in other places, mind you, and I couldn't understand it there either. When it's about a fairly focused site like this one, adding other things to it can make it a little too vast, and lose its purpose, so to say - perhaps even run the risk of having people come to it just to talk of these "off-topic" things, and not for the AMV part, which would be a shame.
Well, alright, the suggestion also seemed a bit weird to me. I mean, if I want to RP, I look for RP sites/rooms... not for other themed sites and then think that there's a lack of RP there. It's... logical, I guess.
Eh, well. In any case, this made me smile, and realize that, indeed, I like the forums as they are. :)
