Logo and More
2002-11-23 21:55:25
Lots of things going on lately.
The AMV Distribution Center now has a logo (thanks Chaos Angel). You can check it out and the new banners available at: http://homepage.mac.com/red_wolf/Distro
I'm in the market for a new FireWire hard drive. I still have room on my 80GB but I won't for too long and I have several projects starting up that require plenty of hard drive space. Best Buy was selling some Western Digital 80GB drives for $80 after rebates so I may check that out tomorrow. I think hard drive prices online have gone up a little. I use to be able to find hard drives for $1 per GB but now I'm having a hard time finding any sized drive at that kind of pricing. One of the reasons for a new drive is I have moved the AMV Distribution Center's CDs to my current FireWire hard drive. I can burn a lot quicker from a disc image than CD to CD and it means there is one less thing I have to keep organized near my desk. Currently they don't take up too much disk space but I'm sure that will change over time, hence the search for more drive space.
Since my iBook only has one FireWire port and I already have a FireWire hard drive and CD-RW I'm also looking for a FireWire hub. Sure I can chain everything together but I don't always need everything on and considering iBooks are real quite the fan noise from the FireWire cases can be annoying. Anyway I think I'm going to end up getting this kick ass FireWire hub. It is a few bucks more than a similar hub but not by much and the coolest factor more than makes up for it. It is called the DinoHub (was called Hubzilla but they lost the name to copyright issues). Check it out at: http://www.charismac.com
I'm also working with a friend on setting up a private MP3 archive. Mainly it is his project but he has gotten me involved due to "my superior organizational skills." My guess is I should be insult by that some how. Basically we're going nuts ripping CDs, organizing the files, and will eventual combine everything on a portable hard drive. I forgot how many CDs I had. We did find that a coworker had a rather large collection stored on their server machine upstairs. The best part is they left their guest account active so we had some fun lagging the local network for three hours (I think he was plugged into one of the 10BaseT hubs still lurking about in the building).

Typing 101

Man I was tired during my last post. I see three typos in 6 lines...that sucks.
The AMV Distribution Center site has been updated.

Working on getting some logos and banners going with the site as well.

Breathing
2002-11-20 23:00:13
Yes I'm still here, although I'm seeiing more and more people jump ship for LiveJournal.com. I check the site out, some neat features but I really didn't care for the format. Oh well, it isn't like I chit chat with AMVs a lot anyway outside of the forum and mail list.
Anyway I realized how long it has been so I posted so I did want to say I was a alive. Several things going on, look for updates later this week.

A Free Weekend?

I just may have one...well, mostly. I can get some more footage ripped (and give the new processor a real bench test, muhaha!) for the NES Project. I can get back to working on my Mac guide web site *GASP*

Back Up and Running
2002-11-13 21:47:41
I'm back up and running with the new iBook. Need to go through the built up email for both work and home.
Getting more and more international requests for the AMV DC. Unfortunetly I don't have a good plan for dealing with those requests at this time so things should be interesting. A few international orders are suppose to be in route trying different methods so I guess I need to see how that goes.
Nothing better than I new and springy keyboard.
