Paycheck = musical experiment - take 2
2002-10-24 22:24:47
Payday came today, and I went on another musical experiment, much like last week with Marumari, the Suikoden mix CD, and Shakkazombie. As well, much like last time, I wasn't disappointed at all...I also didn't buy as much ^^;; last time was a bit insane. I only bought three, but I was tempted to buy another.
New CDs this week:
Casino Versus Japan - "Whole Numbers Play the Basics"
AFX - "Analogue Bubblebath"
Tea Party - "Tangents" (thanks Nicole ^^ I can't get enough of them, THEY RULE!)
I already knew what was on Tangents and Analogue Bubblebath. The main off the wall purchase was Casino Vs. Japan, which, the title of the CD is something that would just attract me ^^ So I snagged it, and the 4th CD would have been one called "Carpet Music" but...I had to control myself ^^;;
This CD was just what I listen to, and man, judging a book by it's cover is definitely working out for me when it comes to music. Sometimes I think "No crappy group/artist would have a cover/song title/record title this awesome". After getting blown away by the sun diluted painting of basic three dimensional shapes on the cover, I took a peak at the back to check out the track titles.
Single Variation of Two (favorite song on disc)
Moonlupe (...also...favorite song on disc)
Aquarium
The Possible Light
Summer Clip
Koma Sign-off
Em Essay
Tryptiline Fabricate
Where to? / What For?
You Were There
Making Lake Park in the Sun (great title!!!! and my favorite so--...nevermind)
Manic Thru Tone
Trad Velecide
Slo Bid Bellwave
This has to be one of my new favorite CDs. A bit minimalistic, and very orgamic. Casino Vs. Japan uses a lot of 8-bit sine waves and wet drumsets to give themselves a very organic sound. Some tracks drift off into noise, but most of them stay melodic and ... very blue (calm, serene, peaceful). Very Boards of Canada, very cool, and definitely worth the money.

on another bright note. LESS THAN A WEEK TIL I VISIT NICOLE!!! *happy dance*

Deep within the ocean filled sky...

Sometimes I don't know WHAT i write in the morning O.o I just wish it could make sense for once. ^^ I must be very strange at that hour...
I realized that my library of music in the morning/evening coming to/going from work has been kicked down to things very mellow, and tranquil. I think it's because I know I'm going to be hearing machines later...
So what's on my playlist? Things like "Le Soleil est Pres de Moi" and "Les Professionnels" by Air, Boards of Canada - Live @ ATP track one, "Day's End" by DJ Krush, "Slow and Easy" by Jor Satriani, and "Over the Horizon Radar" by Boards of Canada.
It's that love for downtempo music that's never left me. ^^
