Big fscking w00terz!
2005-09-29 10:01:49
After one week of agonizing angst and terrible nightmares of things lost in the mail, my Evangelion Platinum box has finally arrived. Which means that for the next few hours, I will be experiencing the "newness euphoria" commonly associated with such occurences. And I will enjoy every second of it. After that, I might even sit down to watch the DVDs...

Excel Saga Project #2 (Entry #4)
2005-09-27 12:46:36
Got some solid editing done today, since there was hardly any school at all and I got up early. Project is progressing nicely; the problems get fewer and fewer all the time, but there are still quite a few left. However, I'm convinced that the video will turn out very close to the way I really want it in the end. There will be a ton of masks to do before that will ever happen, though...
Hopefully I'll have it finished on time for the uppcon (www.uppcon.com) AMV contest in the beginning of November. Last year there were only three participating videos. If there are that many competing this year, it means a) that the contest won't be as fun, and b) that I have a good shot at winning...
The new anime club at my university will probably be called "LinDai," which is short for Linköping Daigaku (Linköping University). I'm due to receive the final version of the regulations tonight, and I'll mail them out together with the agenda for the first official meeting on sunday as soon as I do. Waku waku.

New project started
2005-09-17 17:00:50
Just a quick one before I hit the sack. Tomorrow we'll be having the first unofficial meeting with the new anime club. If all goes well, we'll have the first official one in about a month.
Yesterday was the "official" starting date for my new AMV project. All the ripping and encoding low-q clips for editing was done in a total of three days. I've already got a lot of clips placed. Quite a few obstacles to the original idea have presented themselves, but I believe some creativity will solve them AND make the video all the better in the end. So nothing out of the ordinary.
I've decided to use After Effects for this video, which will be a first. Nothing fancy, probably not much at all that couldn't be done in Premiere. This is partly because I want to get the hang of using AE, since I want to use it more in the future, and partly because there will be a lot of masking in the video (more than in Jerk It Out, no doubt) and I think it's easier to do masks directly in AE than using Paint Shop Pro.
It's great to be editing again. I'll have to do laundry tomorrow, but I'll probably be able to sqeeze in a couple of hours of editing before the meeting. After the meeting I'll be screening Excel Saga with a friend, from episode 6 onwards.

New Anime Club?!
2005-09-10 04:43:37
Had a get-together last night with some friends. We were a total of eight people, half of which were new students on my program for this year. We watched Akira and Dragon Half (nobody except me had ever seen DH before, can you believe that?) and ate pizza. And then it finally happened. We started seriously discussing how we will go about starting an anime club at the university. At least four of us were seriously into the idea, and will probably be on the board once we get started, and the others seemed pretty interested as well. On top of this, a couple of the biggest anime freaks I know from school couldn't make it last night because of all sorts of different parties. I have a really really great feeling about this; it was obvious last night that there is enough commitment around to take this idea pretty far.
Next sunday we'll meet again to prepare for the first yearly council, which will be in about a month or so. At that time, we want as many people as possible to attend, because it will be the formal basis for starting the club. And we also want to be really well prepared. Waku waku desu.
