The Ani-Magic Trail
2002-08-30 04:35:40
Oh, the joy of doing almost full-time work during your summer between High School and College.... grrr..
Not to say I don't like the job. I'm a phone monkey, and I get all of the tedious work, because I'm too new to do most of the advanced things, and since I'll be most quit by... today (minus a few times that I'll come in to help out (when I have time) in the next few weeks). Nonetheless though, it isn't a great job, but it is much better than working at Hollywood Video..... ::shudders:: "When are these movies due back?" "In five days! If you turn your head 45 degress to your left, there is a sign with big flashing lights and in an obnoxiously large and yellow font, it says so." I'm not kidding either. The sign is gone now, but people would ask me that when the sign was still up.... Nonetheless, I'd rather do tedious work and be a phone monkey than ever take care of those idiotic movie monkeys.
Nonetheless though, yes, these next few weeks, I'll be packing for college.... ::looks at his room:: and.. um... excavating... because I've not given this room a decent clean for almost a year.... which means just to traverse the room, I must blaze trails through the stuff.
Anyway, on top of packing, I am also trying to get some vids done for the Ani-Magic AMV contest. I've had only parts of the day to work on my video lately, and such little time to edit means only progress of about 5 seconds a day. Current estimation of when I'll finish this video: a fortnight. Luckily, with no more scheduled work, I have much more time to edit.. which means I SHOULD get this done in only a week, maybe less.
I still want to do another video for the contest, but I doubt I'll have the time. Nonetheless, I shall give it my best. What I find odd, is that the deadline for the videos for the AMV contest is the 16th.. I think... which is only a couple days after I move out.. and I'll be too busy to do anything with AMVs when I'm at that orientation deally. Soooo... that means I've got to have my vids ready by about the 12th, and sent off by then....
I have a good feeling about the video I'm making. Firstly, it's my first true AMV, because all of my other MVs are pretty much American cartoons (I really did not want to make AMVs with fansubbed stuff, or try to get rid of the subs, because of the quality drop), minus two of my videos (my Aerosmith one had one scene of Love Hina, because the kiss from the promise girl matched with the lyrics) (and my Lunar Video, which is Anime style animation, but it is only made from game cutscenes). Anyway, this would be my first true ANIME music video. I'm ranking it, so far, as one of the best vid's I've made thus far. I can only hope how it will fare with the public, but that is what the future shall tell me.
Anyway, it's 1:30 AM, and I've got some editting I want to do before I retire for the night. See you all later, maybe even at Ani-Magic ^_^

Evangelion the movie: Shinji goes to Toudai
2002-08-15 05:06:47
Hmm.. maybe I should save that title for later. Main reason being, I don't set off for college for a month or so. I'll pretty much be glad that school's coming back. I mean... I couldn't wait for my last year to end, but that definitely was not my best year. Anyway, this year, I go to my first year of college. I don't know how much of a Toudai it'll be, but I guess I'll see....
Anyway though, after threatening my computer to no end, I got VFAPI working on my comp, which did almost the same thing as AVIsynth... then I went to check something about VFAPI, and found out AVIsynth was working again. Why? I'm not sure, but it's working again, so hallelulia. So I'm back to using AVIsynth. About the same day I got them working, my writer's block just faded away, and I got most of my music vid scripted out. I'm only about 2 stanzas into the song, but it's still better than what I was at.
I'm trying to get 2 or 3 videos done in time to submit them to Ani-Magic, I hope I can get them done in time. Oddly enough, the day that videos must be postmarked by is only a couple days after I leave for CP. I've got to have my videos sent in with a postmark no later than September 16th (unless I can rush it there by the 21st, hee hee :) ). Maybe I'll to what most people do, after I finish the 2 or 3 i want to, which is to make a video in only 5 days before the cut-off date. Might be comical to see what I can come up with ^_^.
Anyway though.. it's now 2AM here, and my lack of sleep has finally got to me, so I guess it's time to sign off. ::Does a little salute and jumps into a portal leading to his bed::

Where the slag is my hammer!
2002-08-08 04:50:10
ALright.. here's my predicament, turned into non-digital terms. I've just made myself some soup. I go back over to my computer, get it starting to burn a CD, then I come back, and I look at my soup..... it has changed into a Brick..... I don't get it.
Okay, according to ERMac's guide, I set up my computer to use ripped DVDs as source for my videos. It works perfectly.... I was surprised that I only had one problem (the 0.900 pixel aspect ratio, which i fixed after reading the Q&A of the guide).... okay.. so I do that. Then.. I got a new 80GB HD. So I could get the most out of my computer, I decided to get rid of my 15gig (just get it out of this computer), move my 40GB secondary HD to be the primary, move the data from that to my new 80GB, and make that my secondary. Anyway... then, i'd reformat the 40gig, and install windows XP on it, and continue on with my life. Well, everything works fine, except one thing. I load up those files that worked before the reformat, the AVS files, and they bitch about me not having the right path to the D2V file... funny... out of everything in that computer.. that path was one of the few things that didn't change.... so why is it bitching now... and not back then?
..... Either my computer has gone insane... or I have.... or both. Either way, I am so screwed if this doesn't start working again soon... I want to get videos in to the ani-magic convention, grrrrr...
I'll get it working.... the only question is... what implement of destruction will I use to punish the HD afterwards....

//007 for mindless ramblings!
2002-08-04 04:59:08
Oh, the joys of staying up late, trying to work on your Music video, but not doing a dang thing. Unlike my previous music videos, I have decided to try planning this one. The others were planned mostly on the fly (only a few ideas were planned beyond that). However, that also means that my video will take much longer.
I decided to actually plan this one, because this time, I'm using my new DVD-ROM drive to help make the video, and i'd like to have an idea of what I'm doing, before I spend 10-20 minutes ripping the DVD for that clip.
where the heck is my planning paper any--.... oh yeah, here it is.. under the keyboard.... hmm... i've got one stanza done, out of a 4 stanza song (and four repeats of the chorus on top of that... oy) so much more planning to do.
Oh well.. my sleepiness is getting to me, so I might as well stop while I'm not too far behind. Maybe I'll actually get something done tomorrow. 'Nite everybody.
