Too many ideas! To little time! Gah! Well, first things first. I have two more completed scenes, positioned in Premeire and ready to go. I estimate 7 more to go and then I'm covered. The good news here is that these seven are only in four different sequences, with some of the sequences already set up. The bad news is, I've temporarily lost motivation for Bryce. So, I've begun splicing the anime footage together now, and I have at least 1% of that done :). I may simplify my opening CG sequence though, depending on how time consuming it is.
Now, while this is going on I have ideas for four other AMVs. One is for Jubei-chan which is HIGHLY doable. It will be a breeze compared to this one and can be accomplished relatively quickly. I know I stated I may never have a pure AMV again, but it turns out that won't be true. This will be my version of a vacation. Then, I have an idea for FLCL, but that will more than likely require me to experiment with handdrawn animation, so that one has a low probability of completion. I also have an idea for a "various" comedy anime which is effect heavy but very do-able. The problem is the vast amounts of footage necessary, so that is being shelved until I obtain more anime. Finally, I have an idea for an awesome Escaflowne video. A couple things stand in the way but they can be overcome. One: I need to spend money on a plug-in for Premiere. Two: I need to buy the series. I don't mind two though, as I was planning to do that anyway :) Now, yes, this is going to be a Van/Hitomi deal. I know, you're saying "Whoop-dee-do! That's original" But I promise you it will be. Unfortunately my last exposure to Escaflowne in any reasonable period of time was pyro72's "Bittersweet" vid, so my scene visualizations are being heavily influenced by it at this point. So pryo, if you're reading this, remind me to mention your vid in the description if/when I make it. That is, of course, only if it's good. If it's bad, I don't want you getting blamed :) I'm not sure, but I may be able to throw some subtle CG in that one too. I'm pretty confident that when I get around to it, that will be the best vid out of these four, as well as anything I've done so far.

Welcome back pryo. I hope you find Houston to your liking. I'm going to have to check out your next AMV, as I never even heard of that series till you started talking about it. Well, onto the selfish, me-oriented part of my journal :)
I'm swearing off animewallpapers.com. If I were a bastard I'd probably ask for my wallpapers to be taken down, but I don't really want to deal with it. Recently they've been showing pretty graphic Hentai ads on their site. Now, I don't mind the occasional one, but when that's all they flash up on a general anime site it gives it this seedy quality. I can't go there anymore without feeling like a perv. I probably would have stuck it out a bit longer, but they rejected my latest wallpaper. Again, this wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't think that a scan of an LD cover showed more quality, so screw them. I decided I'd turn around and offer it to an OS fan page, but none of them broadcast that they accept submisions, and the majority of them don't have the best layout, so almost as many people will see it on my HD as if I gave it to them.
B5: Legend of the Rangers finally aired. That wasn't the greatest B5 movie, but it wasn't the worst either. The CG has vastly improved over the original. The only problem is that they butchered the jump points. The originals were neat and behaved in acordance with the Doplar Effect ("Jump outs" were red and "Jump ins" were blue). This one... Basically they went onto NASA.gov and downloaded one of their hubble images, then applied it to a cone and had it rotate. I could do that with a six year old low end 3D program! Also, the plot was pretty generic, it looks like the series (if it ever takes off) will just be a repeat of the Shadow War. Hope that doesn't happen.
Uh... AMV progress... yeah... I got one scene done and stuff, so that sums up the progress report. TTFN!

Well, today I hit upon an exceelent idea for parodying that Blur MV I mentioned. The only problem I see with it is... well... that would give the idea away. I still need to decide wether I'll make the vid or not. I can tell that as I progress here it will become more and more difficult for my AMVs to pass the purity test. "60% of the footage must be anime". Well, everything in there is 100% anime related, I just don't know if that's going to be good enough though. Anyway, I think Marionette Inside My Head is going to be the only pure AMV I ever make.
I FINALLY have a digital camera. I'm so happy! And no, this isn't one of those little cheap ones, this is a $1000 prosumer Sony, the one with the really big lens. Now I find myself taking pictures of everything just for the hell of it. I terrorized my cat last night by hunting it down with the nightvision and shooting the hologram AF lazer at it. It's pretty freeky when you push a button and you suddenly see two eyes glowing bright red staring at you. Of course, now I'm thinking how I can apply this thing to an AMV. Oh well, at least I'll now be taking pictures at ACen2002.
Progress... yes... I'm supposed to be making progess aren't I? OK, the test renders for the scene I'm working on are done and I'm in the process of rendering the final source material. It'll probably take three days before that's complete. In the meantime I'm building the next sceen I'm working on, which is probably even more difficult than this one. You see, this is a scene where I verify that this footage was made specifically for the video as I'm going to have the action timed with the music. Unfortunately that is a lot easier said than done. To make matters worse, it still needs to look good and be smooth, so even if I do land the keyframes perfectly, when I smooth out the jerkyness I may wind up throwing everything off and having to restart from scratch. I also have another photoshop effect I'm going to try. It's really very similar to one that I've been using a great deal, however this one needs to be manually tracked throughout the scene, otherwise it won't look right. I THINK I know how to do this with 99.9% accuracy, but it's going to be very time consuming. I shudder to think how many different renders I'm going to have to composite for this to work.

Damn... where's pyro been? Oh well. Today I ran a search to see what if/how many Blur AMVs there are here. What I found can only be described by one word: sad. 14 AMVs, each and every one of them set to the exact same song. See? Sad. Now I'm tempted to do a video for them to a song other than "Song 2". Actually, I want to parody their "Coffee & TV" vid, which to date I have yet to see a better music video. Anyway, right now I have another vid to work on, as well as no idea how to parody that song...
Progress Report! The scene I was working on is nearing completion. Actually, it's so close to completion that I just have to decide to sit down and do it, as such it's on the "procrastinate" list. Hopefully I'll get it done sometime in the next week :) I have, however, almost finished setting up the next scene. If the current test render I'm doing turns out alright I will just need to merge it with another file and set aside the time for my computer to do the grunt work. Like my other in-progress scene, this is going to be a combination of three shots. The one I've got almost complete now is the most complicated. I have a relatively simple panning shot that I also have to just set up as well as another which requires a bit more construction in Bryce, but the motion is relatively simple as well. So, after these two are finished I will have a handful of simple scenes, as well as a big one which I am dubbing "A tribute to Star Trek: The Next Generation". You will understand when you see the video. I am also tempted to start work on the actual anime footage. I'm pretty sure I can complete the first minute+ without too much of a problem. I've had a great deal of time to think about which scenes to use and this time I know they exist. Well, that is all for now. Good night.

Well, I have a lot of stuff in the middle of being put together right now. Kinda a drag when it takes you days to simply render a sequence, but it gives me a lot of time to work on other scenes. I should be caught up in about two weeks. So, here's the current progress report as it stands. Three sequences have been completed and are positioned roughly in Premiere. A fourth is on hold due to chopiness. I may have to render it at 72fps and use the spare frames for motion blur. Meanwhile, a fifth sequence is being rendered and will also be redone at a different camera angle. Finally, a massive Bryce file is being created for a sequence which will probably give people motion sickness on the big screen. Really, I never did see what was so great about the pod race... ILM sucks. If I ever need a break from what I'm working on I'll start editing source clips together.
I had a friend who likes to wave 3DSMax and Maya in front of me. He keeps offering me copies, and everytime I say "Yes! Please!" we both forget over a game of Starcraft or a bottle of gin. Anyway, over New Years I went up to Milwaukee for a gathering; anime, booze, media and a massive LAN party. From those who have seen the clips I've been working on it's basically agreed that when it's done this AMV will be "Tits". Now, you have to understand that these people work with 3DSMax, Maya, Combustion, Lightwave, and have workstations the likes of which would make anyone on this website feel inadequete. I mean, these are machines that are almost to the point where they're done before you tell them what to do. The ammount of RAM in these machines makes my hard drive look puny. Alright, my hard drive is puny, but that's not the point. These people are professionals... and they use the word "tits" to describe what I'm doing. Yes, this will kick ass. Now, the challenge. Will this be ready in time for AnimeCentral 2002? Stay tuned!
