Goooooodmorning Cheech and Chong!
2002-10-04 10:00:55
Hello everyone,
Tis another day, another dollar. Well, a half-dollar in my case as I'm working half a day today.
Anyway, looked over my draft render again yesterday. I am pretty happy with it, though the style of it is really a streatch for me but I think it's working out. I just need to puit in some of the nifty effects I want, you know, a little more eye candy.
This weekend does not have too much going on for me. Gonna skip out on Necronomicon due to lack of fundage, but I am gonna head out to Anime Sushi and check it out. Also gonna try my best to finish up some vids and then brainstorm to plan out my next big adventure.
Gonna catch up with David V. later too. After seeing some of his vids and Jared's Truth about Totoro vid, I'm getting into Aphex Twin and braindance style music. I like the tones/sounds/pace and just overall composition of the music. I figure David's probably livin it up, he's got a nice lil' music fan he can mold, LOL. It's happened before. I had a buddy really into KMFDM that introduced me to it and ever since KMFDM has been my favorite, along with the overall industrial style. In fact, my latest vid uses KMFDM, LOL!
I read a really good post on Animenation's ask John section or whatever. http://www.animenation.net/news/askjohn.php?id=526 is the thread. I found it very interesting cause I believe this is an older debate from late 80's early 90's time frame which as evolved now into so many levels like Otaku, Fangirl, Elitist, Average Joe, Ignorant Mass, and so on... Yeah, it's an interesting debate too. Like John says, it's pretty different then other fandom traits...
Well, I've got some things to get to so I'll catch y'all later. Hopefully I'll have something like way super mega interesting to tell ya!

Good music is always nice
2002-10-03 12:10:39
Hello yet again... can ya tell I'm in a blaa mood at work?
ANYWAY - checked out Etoh from EK's journal. Now that's come nice music... Now I want the CD... must get another job to have fun money (this one barely pays the bills, lol.) Oh man, why must I be so tortured?! Anyway, thats some nice stuff EK, thanks for posting it!
Oh, and as a side note, college is great and all but some classes are just totally stupid. Here is my random rant. A class that I had to take as a graduation requirement for the honors college at UCF was "Slavery in the Artistic Imagination." Many friends told me it would be a pain because a lot of people had problems with the professor. Well, I've no beef with either of the professors, in fact they seem the opposite of what I've heard so I dunno what is going on there, but I do have a problem with the class...
Get this, the whole slavery thing, well it's not THAT significant to the class... Oh, and get this too, we started the class with nothing but discussions on the historical validitity of "HISTORICAL" films and disproving the notion that any film could ever be historically accurate and thus were in that mindset. Well, yesterday I come to find out that has NOTHING to fucking do with the class, NOTHING! The class studies how the film uses stuff like the camera angle, lighting, word usage, sound, music, and all that other great film mojo jojo stuff to lead you to believe, thing, feel, or whatever as the director wants you too. That's a FASCINATING top and very intersting, but it's SOOOOOOO different then what we started with.
I'm really aggrivated because my first paper was graded based on this requirement, not the top of ALL our prior discussions... oh well... live and learn that learning is a joke sometimes. Anyway, yeah, so Slavery is really irrelevant, it's just a common bound between the films we watch... right... all the articles and reading too analyze how slavery is HISTORICALLY portrayed, whatever... It's irritating as all hell cause it's too damn confusing and WAY too film focused for me to be taking it for ENGLISH credit as a BUSINESS Major... UGH!!!! You know, the honors college courses have really stiffed me a few times now... OH WELL! Sux to be me sometimes, but I'll make it through this course, or at least the course as I now see it. Who knows, that all might change next week and we might be studying how the director uses film to get laid or something...
Whatever...

Random blabbing from a blundering idiot
2002-10-03 11:10:05
Hello all!
I wonder who reads this... LOL. I know it's being read, but by whom? Jared, do you take a peak now and then? Maybe David? I dunno, damn thing only tells me how many people. It's like there's a party and I don't know anyone there!
ANYWAY, on to the important stuff!!
Watched Jared's Totoro video, 4 times now, heh, cool vid, very interesting. Even went as far to give my opinion. Speaking of which, some lame ass gave him all 2's even though they had not seen the video and where just aggrivated at his discription. DUDE, get a life, that affects the overall score, update that crap, take it off, or don't bother! SHEEEEEESH!!!! Anyway Jared, I liked your vid and gave ya my opinions, so check em out, and lets hope Mr. 2 fixes his opinion after viewing the video :)
Rendered Draft 1 of my latest vid last night to review footage, look for glitches, and decide on extra effects. This thing is a true monster compared to my other projects. It's got around 400 or more cuts, 10 layers of video, and just breaks every boundary I've worked within so far... I don't like heavy cutting, is a pain in the ass and I have this thing with using the same footage twice, so with the very limited footage I have, it was REAL interesting keeping it varied, but I did. The last couple of sequences really challenged me though, but I enjoyed it, even though my mousing hand HATES ME! I can't wait to finish it up and shove it through after effects for some nice finishing touches.
What's suprising is that the video actually "mesmerized" my fiance... it's the first time she's ever watched on of my vids and been completely focused... that's kinda cool, LOL! She likes my other vids, but she's never been COMPLETELY engrossed from start to finish. In fact, she wants to see the anime now to find out a bit more... which is REALLY fucking suprising considering the content... I mean, the anime I used is considered one of the worst by many, and awsome by a select few, LOL. Either way, I'm real happy and hope it all works out to entertain once it is premiered.
Finally caught a look at Z-Anime's Fanservice video - loved it. That one is great. Gonna probably review that when I get home. Oh yeah, I'm at work right now, lol, as you might have guessed. It's busy today but I had to take a break before my mind exploded!! Wish I was home right now.
So I guess I'll cut it here so I don't ramble on too long. Hope everyone has a great day and stuff.

JACON not far... good point!
2002-10-01 14:24:54
Was checking up on journals and read Sushi Boy's and he mentioned JACON was not far off... That's scarey because I've got to run the gaming department - The closer JACON gets, the more work to do, EIP! Heh, I can't wait though, every year is more fun then the last :)
Also downloading his vid... looks like a big file. I can't wait till the IS guys come kill me for downloading stuff, LOL!
Oh, and does anyone know any info on megacon I wonder? Will there be an AMV contest there? Hmm... I must find out. I had planned on entering one of my three latest vids there, but debating if I should save my pride and joy for Megacon or JACON? It needs a big audience/room... I really wonder.
Speaking of which, I REALLY should complete that video! I've got two videos sitting waiting for just final little touches, nothing but titles, maybe some video cleanup, but no, do I do the last touches, the easy things? NO! I move on, do another video!?!? Ugh. I think tonight and tomorrow I will complete those two vids, I mean they are like 95% done! I'm such a loon... Besides, if I'm gonna give Jared a
sneak peak, I want him to see what's gonna go, but should I give him a sneak peak? Hmmm... should I save the suprise? UGH! It's killing me! Why must these be complete this year for premiers next year?!?!
This leads me to wonder... do I really want more cons? Should I worry so much about suprise? What's the standard? I dunno... a lot of people mention their vids early... I'm so confused, this is all too new LOL. Eh, I have fun editing, I leave the crazy confusing stuff to the birds. Right now I must try to stay awake for the rest of work, LOL. No seriously though, right now I need to worry about getting home and finishing my two ALMOST complete vids and getting them encoded with preview versions.
Well, later folks! Oh, and cool that EK's got Cowboy Bebop near her, that's just way awsome. But that leads to another debate, that shall be saved for another post - is Anime too popular? Can it be? Heh, I'll let you chew on that!
L8R!

Chronicles of the Not So Heroic Guy
2002-10-01 12:34:18
Hello everyone :)
Once again I write to the void that is cyberspace. Hello cyberspace!
So, I was up till 2AM last night cause I could not sleep since my mind was running over my latest project in my head. Ever get that problem? Where you've got this huge goal, this huge project, these great aspirations and so your constantly thinking about them? Well, to make it worse, I've got all these wants but no idea what those wants are! Know what I mean? I like want it to look like this, be cool like that, use this that and the other, but maintain itself. I want it to be simple, yet effective, yet expansive, go figure!
Yeah, not being able to sleep cause you are thinking too much stinks. On top of that I spent a lot of the night waiting for a render of what has been done and looking for gossip, chat, or just some form of socialization! I've become such a social whore lately. I love to chat, talk, hang, bla bla bla... I'm scared... I'm become too social...
So anyway, most of my friends are too busy lately though, completely understandable since we are all either working or college geeks... Some friends I'd like to know a little more about. I know I think they are cool, but am I just some annoying guy or am I cool too? Wow, that statement really makes me sound like some jackass otaku newbie... ouch.
Well anyway, yeah, work is boring. But what can you expect? I like work though, like it a lot. Been here for 2 and 1/2 years :) Great people to work with and stuff, so it's cool. Besides, it's money and we could all use more of that, am I right?
Hosting is a pain in the ass. I want to get my vids up, get some exposure, show ya guys what I've done, but alas I can't. Can't afford to pay, and not sure if I can just set my comp up as an FTP for people to download from. Does anyone have any info on how I might be able to do that? I figure I could leave my pc on during certain hours (I hate hearing it run while I'm sleeping.) If anyone has info on how to set my machine up to an FTP, PLEASE let me know - who knows, I might give ya a gig to play with, LOL. Either way, let me know as I'd like to set something up.
Hey, a shout out to peeps I know and may know me. David V, hope everything is good. Sushi Boy, hope to catch up with ya this saturday, see your new stuff, show ya some of mine. EK and Brett, I owe ya both a million thanks - you guys were the final inspiration I needed to stop whining and get into music vids, especial that vid at JACON 2002 Brett :) EK, your video editing vid just spoke volumes, LOL - I was that geek gaming department head - guy that dressed up as Duo, wore the wig, yeah - geeky... No more of that cosplay stuff, bleggg. I dunno how many other people I know are on here yet, have not explored too much. Snackpants, I know you are registered, but don't know how active you are with your journal being elsewhere. Anyone else, hey, if you are on here, let me know ;-)
Well, I guess I'll get back to work now. May do another update later. Hope y'all have a great whatever!
