Just got word that the entry I sent off to Ohayocon is actually competing. It's the first vid, I've ever sent to a con, so I would been happy just to have it shown. Needless to say I'm in a very good mood right now.
I'd better stop grinning like this though before either the men in white come to drag me away or I get a cramp in one my cheeks.

Ah, the joy of ending.

The site is back up after my recent frustrations, and I've taken all steps I can to insure that nothing like it ever happens again.

The folder all my amvs are stored on has suffered an error... on the server.
This means that I can see the folder, but no one else can (and nobody can access it). In short it's garbage. This is the second time this has happened. My hosts answer last time was upload everything again. I did. On my 56K dial-up. It took more than a week. Now I get to do it again.
And just to add insult to injury I had just finished redisgning the site.
Man, I cannot wait for the GD to get set up so I can stopworrying about this. Well, I'd better get to uploading.

Now *THAT* is depressing...

Recently I've been having some trouble with both my host. For several days the server my site is on was down and when it finally came back up the ftp directory all my vids are on was corrupted. Logically, I contacted the company (hey, they should have it backed up right), and their answer?
Delete it start over, and if that doesn't work then you can bother us.
I just finished another vid (but I won't put the details up until it can be downloaded). I always make a smaller LQ version and a larger HQ version available. This means I have 16 sizable files to upload... over a dail-up ...in a house with one phoneline...
To add insult to injury know the phoneline has gone buggy. The line sometimes registers as being in use when no one is on it. Last Sunday when trying to call out our line got crossed with someone who was trying to dail 911 (poor guy), and random disconnection has become the natuaral order of things. This wouldn't been nearly so bad if uploading was resumable, but it's not so I haven't been able to get even the smallest AMV back up yet.
Well, back to trying to fix this mess. Wish me luck becuase I'm going to need it.

Just when things were looking up...

*WHAM!*
I'd just opened a new web site two days... err three days ago, and life was good. Then I notice a difficulty uploading a small change I was making to the site via FTP. To be sure I go and check the site to find that it's been shut down, and notice saying I should contact the company.
It seems my site sucked up more than 117GIGs of bandwidth in under 48 hours. Owww... Can't say I blame them for shutting me down.
They were actually quite good about it and I worked out a deal that if I reduced the number of files available then they'd let me back on. Now I have 1 vid out there (2 versions of it), and am planning on using rotation to make them all available. If I don't get hit too hard I may try post two at once. *sigh*
